Hi. This is pretty embarassing for me but i thought i'll give our usj forummers a warning. I have a bad habit of not paying my water bill till 2 or 3 months. Well my procrastination taught me an embarassing lesson. In the midst of a meeting, my neighbour rang me and told me that someone is fiddling with my water meter. I was shocked and asked her whether someone was trying to steal water. She then told me that it was a contractor from Syabas cutting my water supply! So I immediately went to the Jalan Templer office to make payments. There I asked them how is it that there was no warning letter. There wasn't even a notice from the contractor after he left. I was told that after 2 months of non receipt of payment, they would cut off the water supply without a notice given. In order to restore the water supply, you'll have to pay RM50 ringgit plus your water bill. Needless to say, my whole afternoon was spent paying bills.

they're hardworking at doing unnecessary things....last few months..outside my shop i saw a faulty meeting and there's water spraying out and caused a pool of water near the walkway...i was told by a neighbour its alr that way for many months and apparently syabas has no freaking idea of the problem (i wonder how to check out monthly bills, from internet, maybe)...anyway, i called them to make a report and i take them 1 week to fix the problem...syabas for their efficiency..... :)

i have something to comment here too.... the problem is, i didnt even receive any bill from syabas and suddenly they just came and cut the water off. Now, when I complained, the officer said they did their rounds reading water meter and pass on the bills, but i have a gut feeling that they dont. Because I have NEVER received any Syabas bill... AT ALL! the whole of my stint here in USJ.

by right, they should issue a warning first.

I heard it is the red color notice or something like that.

how could they just cut off the water like that?

maybe you should check with the top management?

Didn't want to go to the hassle of contacting top management. There was quite a queue there and the customer service officer answered the same thing to everyone - syabas does not issue warning letters anymore. Apparently, another grouse was, payments made at agents office etc Pos Malaysia,Tenaga Nasional, TM, not updated quickly. Not talking about 3 or 4 days late but more than a month late. The lady said she has made payments few months ago but payment not updated yet. Officer said it is better to make payments to Syabas office directly if payment for billis a month late. That way it can be updated immediately and not risk water supply being cut.

To add to my latest post - I do make payments at Pos Malaysia and payments made are reflected in my next bill. Maybe the lady was unlucky.

Fix the anti-theft meter device, available at most hardware shops. If it can keep potential thieves away, it should does an equally good job with the contractors.

Thanks Sunway Kid. Will certainly check that out but i don't think Syabas will pay me a visit anymore as i have learnt my lesson and will pay all my bills promptly. :)
