ru superstitious?

currymee
14-10-2009, 05:24 PM
Let's say, don't tempt fate ... don't ask don't know, safer ... just like feng shui, if asked, and .... (continue as question below)

If advised to reno house cost a bomb, will you do it?

Sugarfree
14-10-2009, 05:30 PM
no,i won't.non-believer in all things superstitious incld fengshui.

why is a house facing t-junction bad for u or so they say?

currymee
14-10-2009, 05:33 PM
That's logical - if car or lorry got brake failure, will not smack right into your house - or runaway coaches in olden China - so is sleeping under beams, where in China, got earthquake, know what I mean ....

What else you want to know about "logical" feng shui - not the Lilian Too or Joey Yap how to get rich ones ?

Sugarfree
14-10-2009, 07:46 PM
another example of 'logical' fengshui is the location your room.make sure it's never below the kitchen.that's bad for u but sure lar,d heat'll leave u sweating like ur doing d wild thang when ur not! ;) no, i don't have any questions on 'logical' fengshui.

u like to offer some 'logical' fengshui tips?

coleslaw
14-10-2009, 07:56 PM
fengshui were practised in ancient china were more of common sense. why houses are of certain orientation is to combat cold winter wind. houses are located near water source is also common sense. they don't have taps mah!!
i've a friend who built a flight of 5steps stairs, starting from his back door, that leads to nowhere. the 6th step you are in the air and falls!! all this on feng shui master's advice. how stupid is that. not to mention main door at an angle. the whole house is out of whack.

anyone really practise it?(apart from my friend, of course!)

shthang
14-10-2009, 08:52 PM
If the place makes me feel comfortable and homely, then that is good fengshui....i have seen fengshui con-men that made tons and tons of money by giving fengshui advice "cum" other personal services. Best example is the late HK's billionaire Nina Wang that gave her toy boy HK150mil cash within one week....wow...i think i am in the wrong profession!

if someone like Nina Wang offer that amount of money to do things that you hate to do, will you do it??

Sugarfree
14-10-2009, 09:01 PM
dat was a nasty amount of dough there man!most of us can't earn that in a lifetime!ok,if she had offerred me the exact amount,no more no less,i wud've done it but with one condition.she had to wear a charlize theron mask. :p

i know we said there shudn't be a 'same question' question but i simply gotta do it.dis is such an intriguing ?.

same question!

shthang
14-10-2009, 09:06 PM
for that money...sure do. But i will be more professional than you and more customer focus...no need to wear mask thingy as she may suffocate out of breath. But oso one condition...off the lights and make sure it's dem dark plus a big bowl in case i need to puke...hahaha :D

I also keen to see what other will answer to this question. Hence same question.

Naka
15-10-2009, 07:40 AM
Just think along this line:- in the world's oldest profession, how do they take it. Answer:- they think of the money and forget everything.

US Market crosses the 10,000 marks last night, are you going to buy share now?

currymee
15-10-2009, 08:38 AM

Naka
15-10-2009, 09:00 AM

15-10-2009, 09:06 AM
Recommend you read Malaysian Finance blogspot (Salvatore Dali) - really educational, about his tips, well, many followed and usually once he write, counter has moved, so don't kena conned - not coz of him coz others who have read it earlier, have moved it ... OK I will start one new KLSE thread soon, once I get my DISCLAIMER sentence worked out, don't want Bank Negara chasing me for illegal financial services hahaa ....

Are you feeling bullish or bearish today? :p

QuietStorm
15-10-2009, 09:54 AM
Neither. I'm feeling hungry! Didn't have supper last night and nothing in the stomach yet this morning! :p

Which is better. Invest in properties or in shares?

nona
15-10-2009, 10:08 AM
shares...better adrenalin rush

why everything that goes up must come down?? (share price)

QuietStorm
15-10-2009, 10:16 AM
That's the adrenalin rush! You don't know when it's going up or coming down! :D

When was the last time you saw a road accident happening right in front of you?!

currymee
15-10-2009, 10:16 AM
Depends on your risk level appetite and profile - shares are liquid and higher risk; property are "fixed" asset and less volatile unless in Bukit Antarabangsa !!

This is beacuse there is AN ACCEPTABLE limit to the logical earnings potential of a company and for better or worse, shares movements are reflective of public/institutional perception of whether that POTENTIAL is getting better or worse - i.e movement reflect potential FUTURE earnings and once that acceptable ratio is reached then either stays there, go down or up (if better earning news) Example: Genting in relation to other global casino peers shld be around 20x PE , so currently less, then got chance to go but all depends on news et ctec , eg if Singapore SINKS into the sea tomorrow, Genting also sinks, cos Sentosa resort kaput, future earnings and current investment got hit - something like that (DISCLAIMER: Not suggesting or advising you to buy/sell/hold any counter - you take your own risk)

Do I make any sense to you?

coleslaw
15-10-2009, 01:28 PM
no and neither did the nick change, thought it was a different one!!! but i'm not the brightest bulb when it comes to this.

are you heavy into shares?

Naka
15-10-2009, 01:36 PM
Ayam an ikan bilis on shares....do a bit of picking here n there.

Same question

currymee

Do you know that the first GOLDEN rule in shares is CAPITAL PRESERVATION and not making money?

Naka
15-10-2009, 03:14 PM
Do you know that the first GOLDEN rule in shares is CAPITAL PRESERVATION and not making money?

Tell us more--ayam all ears. :D

When are you starting a KLSE thread, Sifu?

currymee
15-10-2009, 03:17 PM
Sifu, I WISH - right now, not going poo-kai is the best I can hope for before KLSE goes down like stone, now already this afternoon has turned downwards !!

Do you know that combination of FUNDAMENTAL & TECHNICAL ANALYSIS is safer for punters like us than purely either discipline ?

Naka
15-10-2009, 03:27 PM

Ppl take profit mah...so it's yo-yo-ling...like before :D Agreed on the fundamentals/TA...

Why don't you start and show us some graphs of KLSE?

currymee
15-10-2009, 04:00 PM
KLSE graphs since the changeover to new 30-components KLCI CANNOT HARAP - coz by messing around with just CIMB, Maybank, Sime, IOI and Genting - you influence 70% of index - i.e. rubbish number nowadays - too easily manipulated by GOvt bodies like EPF, to make Govt look good .... IMHO

Since KLCI cannot be reliably trusted, what do we do?

Naka
15-10-2009, 04:13 PM
Get the tips from reliable source and wack the shares as if no tomorrow :D
Do this 2 or 3 times in a year, enough liao. :D

Same question

currymee
15-10-2009, 04:16 PM
2nd GOLDEN RULE - double-triple checks ALL TIPS - people who give you tips normally have loaded their positions and hope for you to help them out ... not sincere ... avoid like plagues ... and like Warren Buffett said ... try not to be the patsy ....

KLCI tumbling down now, what should we do?

Naka
15-10-2009, 04:18 PM
Hang on...to play share you must have holding power :D

True or not?

currymee
15-10-2009, 04:20 PM
Preferably got holding power but if not, then you must be really good discipline with your TA (technical analysis) and momentum (volume) analysis.

Are we talking Investment 101 here instead of the new thread ? :p

Naka
15-10-2009, 04:30 PM
Alamak, i tot we are in the KLSE thread. :D

OK, change course, let's go North:-

Winter is coming, are you worry of H1N1?

currymee

What is the situation in Boleh?

currymee
15-10-2009, 04:41 PM
Govt keep reporting NO DEATHS , and as far as they are concerned that's good enough ... typical Malaysians, chee kei poh chung (DIY) :(
(Naka, I have started the KLSE thread with some basic ideas but strictly no case study on counters until I get disclaimer ok from S Dali - he is good, check him out)

Malysians are strong and independent, we can look after ourselves right?

coleslaw
15-10-2009, 06:21 PM
but of course we can. we are not a welfare state. problem here is, we can look after ourselves so well that we are blind and indifferent to others.

1) Be happy 2) visit Antartica 3) See northen lights

i know some of you are going to be very different..same question.

Naka
16-10-2009, 08:19 AM
From your 3 'must see lists', only Antartica is left for me. But I am not keen to see it.

There was a very very good documentary on all corners in Antartica that was shown in TV showing a famous Japanese Film Star and if you seen it, that's it, no need for me to go there. The documentary was filmed in HD.

~~

How much time do you spend watching TV?

currymee
16-10-2009, 08:55 AM
for the 3 things to do: for me : easy : eat, sleep, make babies :p

as for TV, too much - watch cartoons with my kids all the time, so you can imagine, bad example as my wife always said to me !!

I'm shocked that you don't like Hotel California! Why? That's superb! One of the best Eagles songs! New Kid In Town is cool, too and so is One Of These Nights. :D

Awesome love songs, Shthang! Those are my favourites, too. Yes, there are just too many memorable songs from the 70's and 80's to list down here and it's near impossible to list down my favourite top 3. I will not even try! Haha. What I'm about to do is to name three 80's songs that pop up in my mind first, songs that I enjoy listening to till today. Since you've so kindly supplied the links, I'm doing the same. :D

EEErrrrrr ... dunno !! :p I love my Maybank Amex - gets 2x points for everything, Visa Petronas 5X points for petrol, MC with insurance company - 10X points ..... so blur liow :D

What about you? Which card and why?

QuietStorm
23-10-2009, 07:54 PM
Don't know yet. Still weighing the pros and cons. Haha...

Apparently this move is to curb impulsive shopping. Should petrol prices be increased too, so we may stay at home more often, hence save more money?

currymee

Looks to me more like punitive tax on everyone - if he really wants to tax, just tax those on the RM250K + salary bracket (including himself) - this is just like the VAT battle in UK

Rumours are strong that petrol will rise again - must kautim with my local Petronas taikor to give me the headsup b4 that.

Deja vu for rising petrol, come to crash stock market ? :p Feels like late 2007- early 2008 again ?

If golf is self-torture, then all golf viewers must be sado-masochists to pay good money to watch someone torture themselves , right or wrong? :p

(Naka, just joking - play, play, don't blow top - I know you love the game - just giving an alterantive POV :D )

No lah, I dun get cross easily, it's just that you tend to loose your plot after a while & turn blur blurrr. .

To answer your question, golf is definitely not self torture.

If you are a golfer, you will love that 'connecting sweet sound'....." tink or ting " between the driver & the golf ball when you tee off. The sharper that " tink or ting" the better it is...meaning you are hitting the sweet spot ( of the club face).

And when you put the ball into the hole in the stillness of the day, you are expected to hear the ball making that " korok, korok, korok " sound when the ball twists & turns around the hole. :D Believe that's the best relieve & satisfacting sound you can get when your ball enters the hole. :D

The other question is the 'golf viewers' or spectators. I had followed a few International Renounced Golfers around the championship golf courses in major Tournaments around the globe & I had also play the Pro-Am with 5 or 6 of them. You pay thro' your nose to be in their company.

Personally I still like to follow Greg Norman. He still has that charismatic qualities to go after.

What is your favourite games?

[QUOTE=Naka] .... that's the best relieve & satisfacting sound you can get when your ball enters the hole. :D ...... relieve and satisfaction from... ??? - mental torture lor :p
QUOTE]

I played golf - only ONCE a full round but to driving range a few times in the past and enough hahaha .... lost balls, water hazards, sand traps, rough, 6-shot putts , you name it, at the end of the front-9, I LOST count liow :p Only part I enjoy is always the tee-off - and you are right - that sweet sound, only heard it a few times among the cangkuls(divots) :D

My favourite game is table-tennis (ping-pong) , badminton (lousy backhand) and surprise, surprise - tennis (which I enjoy but sucks bigtime) :D

Same question ...

QuietStorm
28-10-2009, 10:37 AM
Definitely yes but it isn't easy to find a 'kaki' these days. No one I know is keen to play. Sad, isn't it? What? You have 3 Scrabble sets? In the event you wish to give one away, do think of me. Haha. My Scrabble set has gone missing a long time ago. Not too long ago, I bought UpWords but regretted it somewhat as later I realized that Scrabble is still King! That's perhaps because I started with Scrabble. The first experience is always the most memorable, I guess. Playing UpWords does not evoke that nostalgic feeling.

Which is more fun. Scrabble or UpWords?

lohmee
28-10-2009, 10:42 AM
Can play online scrabble - cannot remember which website - will try and google later. I got one deluxe, one travel (big) and one travel (small) and one I played when young, a spin-off called Spellrite - my first intro before the REAL thing ... I also got travel mahjong (played in the palm of your hands one)

Never tried Upwords before, so cannot comment - but usually I prefer the original games than spin-offs.

Do you like card games?
