View Full Version : Idiotic comment of the month: Rafidah denies that corruption is "acute" in Malaysia

Trust Kak Rafidah to tell it like it is (at least, from her point of view).

"Investors that I have met so far have not told me of their fear of corruption, or (that) they have to face corruption. We render our services without asking for anything back."

"I do not think (corruption in Malaysia) is acute. I would like to dispute that. You can't have zero corruption in the country. We are made of many types of human beings."

(from an AFP report in the Spore TODAY newspaper (http://todayonline.com) Mar 8).

What else can the fat lady say that sound politically right?

I would go on and state the many corruption cases that she was allegedly implicated in but that would earn me the wrath of the "Banana man KWChang" and probably get sued blue-black in court, so I rest my case.

KAKAK RA is indirectly saying: -

sorry to hijack this thread but it is related to corruption. Pertaining to the news on the Ipoh councillor cleared of wrongdoing in the Star newspaper http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/3/6/nation/20070306161815&sec=nation
I am really mad at this particular statement "And he did not commit any wrongdoing by operating without a licence" commented by Datuk Bandar Datuk Mohamad Rafiai Moktar. What's happening to our country where politicians openly "smack" rakyat's face.

A foreigner I met oversea once said this when he knew I'm from M'sia.

"Please tell the fat lady to shut up!".

According to Wikipedia, acute in medicine means:

1) something that happens rapidly
2) it will be over in a short time

So, by saying that corruption is not acute, by proxy, she is implying that corruption in this country is chronic?

Or perhaps I am reading too much into this or her command of English is deplorable at best. Saja throw out big words when she doesn't know the meaning of it.

That's my take on it.

How long before someone asks Ramon Navaratnam to "cool it"?

Brothers, its been a way of life and no one can get rid of that desease anymore. Those supposed to catch corruption is corrupted himself ( sorry not proven guilty yet and most probably would not ). Once our former PM said before that ours not that bad, at least they do it quitely or under the table. haha, admit or saying that taking it discretely is ok. Human is greedy and this nature is inherited from our forefathers and shall be passed on to the next gen.
