View Full Version : Residential to TASKA - Advice?
25-01-2007, 02:45 PM
MPSJ has sent me a letter saying that the nearby corner house in USJ11 is applying to convert from residential to TASKA (Taman Asuhan Kanak-Kanak) giving me 21 day to object if I wish.
Could anyone advise me on what implications to think about.
Any advice comments appreciated.

I would suggest talking to your neighbour first to find out exactly what they are planning to do, and how big it is going to be.

I didn't know that MPSJ will actually seek the opinions/consents from the residents before approving on this matter. Very considerate of them & democratic as well :) Hope they will adopt this practice for other matters as well.
There is actually no harm having a Taska, there might be slight traffic congestion in the morning where most parents will send in their child and the picking up time in the afternoon or evening. Another thing is parking as some parents might park their car in front of your or neighbour house. Thirdly is the noise level of the children. If all the residents at your neighbourhood is working, then this shouldn't be an issue.

Actually the interesting thing is that the TASKA has been there for many years already. Does that mean it has been operating "illegally" in a residential land.
I have no problem with the TASKA as it is at the moment and as long as it will not suddenly become a 3 or 4 storey building or something like that, I am happy for them to run their TASKA.
Yes, I will talk to the owner but am sure we will have an amicable chat with promises of it just continuing as it is but one wonders if one day because of it being designated a TASKA, they (or a new owner) can decide to expand the corner lot house. I guess that is my worry.
The MPSJ letter says we may be affected by further developments of the plot once the status is changed. What might that possibly imply?

Taska license is different from Tadika license. I think Taska cannot have more than 30 children but Tadika can have more, up to 100+! So for the future further development might be to Tadika status. Again, the traffic congestion, parking & the noise level ...

Thanks for the info on the numbers allowed for TASKA and TADIKA. Never knew that. Most useful to know and appreciate your thoughts on this.

Near my place in USJ 3C, there is an upcoming huge 3-storey Taska being built. It sits on its own land right next to the neighborhood but facing a row of houses. Frm what I understand frm the main con, its an MPSJ Taska and only meant for MPSJ staff's children. I hv not heard of any of the residents facing this Taska being served any letter of notice, most probably becos it sits on its own land and not amidst the neighborhood. But still, we envisage traffic and noise problems being in close proximity to the houses, separated only by a residential road.
