Anyone with experience in applying for IC for 12 year olds? My son will be turning 12 this Jan 24th. (How time flies!)
Please highlight procedure. :)

Just go the nearest Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara office and bring your child's birth cert as well as your wonderful mykad. Filled some form and wait. Very simple.

You'll have 1 month ...if not mistaken... on turning 12yrs to apply FOC. After that, have to pay some late fees wor.....

Make sure your son wears a dark color shirt with color. This wouldbe safest else, they will ask him to wear their jacket which will be so big.

Yes, it does sound too simple! :D When I go to the Jabatan Pendaftaran, I really pray and hope they won't turn around and say.."OK rules have changed... blah blah blah.."
I really cannot afford to waste any leave. Is half a day enough for this process?

Half an hour is more than enough if you are the only one applying at that time.

Just got my 12 years old son IC applied in JPN Puchong Utama Branch.
If apply within 30 days from his 12th Birthday, it is free. After which RM10
processing fees will be imposed within the first year of his 12th Birthday.

It is rather simple. Bring along your son Original Birth Cert and fill in JPN.KP01 form. Get a number and queue for your turn. Probably it will take you about 1 hr. I believe best time to go is on Tuesday. My Kad will be issued and collected in three weeks time.

Get the JPN address from the website.

IS it mykad or mykid? Is mykid for child from 1st day till 12th year?

I went to do my son's at Puchong Utama branch 1 year ago. Got number 8 or 9. Just as they started serving numbers 1 & 2, there was a poof, and the lights went out, there was a burning smell. Turned out the DB burnt out.

So had to go to Shah Alam and waited till 4.00 pm

No ...you got more than 1 month...in fact can be 10 years oso no problem. It's all up to you if you are willing to pay.;) that's all..:D

The application fee is free when you do it within 30days of attaining 12yr and as Usj9chin says pay rm10 after that 30 days.... Not sure how long the rm10 will allow.
The penalty gets higher n higher as the late period get longer.
