Hi, I intend to travel to USJ in the near future. No particular reason. Just wanna explore new places. Wanna get away for a while. Im from singapore, btw. :o

Are there any inns or motels in your area? I dont really intend to stay a week in sheraton or summit hotel ..it will literally burn a hole in my pocket...

Opinions and advise needed.

Thanks a lot. :o

There is another place you can try and stay in, its called 3K Inn which is in SS13, next to A&W there. Can't miss it.

If in a month you come to USJ for more than 26 days, I suggest you just rent a room which will be much cheaper than staying in hotel/inns.

Hello newuser999, firstly welcome to the usj forum. A previous forumer requested to know some affordable/backpacker style lodgings in a previous thread. You can find more information from the following url:

Cheers!

I wouldn't recommend this place. Few years back, I personally saw those police carry a dead man in a bag out of this place. Apparently he committed suicide in this Inn. Since then, I don't even wanna pass by that place.

Highly not recommended by me. But those who are daring can stay there. :)

Thanks everyone !! :D

Are the different districts within walking distance? :)

For eg: Is USJ 9 within walking distance from USJ 18?

btw, I see terms like SS14, SS9. Are they the same as USJ14, USJ 9?

SS is Subang Jaya whilst USJ is referring to USJ UEP.

You can definitely walk between different districts.. but it will take u very long to do that... I think cycling would be the better option.

ss14 is ss14 diff from usj14.

IF you are really that free then do take a walk and see how far is it. Driving would be a better option than walking or cycling. Currently at the moment, most of the area around Subang .. I mean the roads are in the midst of construction. Still wanna walk? Then I suggest you get a safety vest and wear it first before you get yourself knock down.

Distance between ss14 to ss15 is near and ss15 to Subang Parade is near. USJ 10(taipan) is near to USJ9, there you can walk. Other than that, drive or take a bus. Rapid KL, pay $2, you get to enjoy the ride within Subang the whole day.

Last time I did try to walk from Subang Parade all the way back to USJ6. Trust me! You won't wanna do that.

newuser999,

What do you hope to see in USJ/S.Jaya that you may want to spend a few days exploring. Frankly, it's just one huge housing estate with little tourist attractions...unless you consider traffic congestions and private hospital as attractions.

Just asking so that you may not feel disappointed coming in with high expections..

There is Sunway Lagoon nearby and a few nice pubs though. :D

Im just worried that I will be a carrot head and being chopped by Taxi drivers if i wander around USJ in Taxis.

Im not saying all taxi drivers are like that. But when some taxi drivers figured that you are not local, they will..ahem..

No offense...but tt happens everywhere. Including my country...

So..ya.. :D

Life in SJ/USJ not that much different from Singapore lah. if you ignore the jams and clogged drains. ;)

May I suggest you do a homestay in a kampong in Negri Sembilan or Banting. It would surely recharge your batteries if thats what you are looking for.

So, what did you think? Suburban areas really aren't very touristy, are they?

It's like wanting to visit Woodlands or Jurong. OK to live in, dreary to visit.

y not? it's a way to see different ways of life. i do not really like to visit tourist attractions as it doesn't really reflect a commoner of a country.

tourist spots are usually put up for show. it's the same everywhere. :D

How would you sum up the experience?
Did you heed, find that the advice from the esteemed USJ forummers
help to influence the outcome, in your case? :D

Hi
Not sure whether you have visited Subang. I am new to this forum, and live close to Subang Jaya MEdical Centre (SJMC). There is now a hotel/motel very close to SJMC, which is cheaper than staying at Sheraton Subang or Holiday Villa. It's just across the road from SJMC, but I don't have the phone number at the moment..
