Haven't been there before but I wouldn't think there'll be much difference with the IT place in Subang Parade. Parking may be a problem, too. :-- )

Parking may be a problem, too. :-- )

Free parking = Big problem
Paid parking (Multilevel parking next to IT mall building) = NO problem.

Less crowded, more upmarket. More relaxing to browse around. But prices appear to be more expensive than LY Plaza. Not sure though. But parking is really lecheh lah!

Been there a week ago, that place ain't really that big and not many booth are open. More or less the same concept of what low yat is doing. Stuff there are quite reasonable. Having to go there is easier than to go down all the way to KL but parking is really a huge problem over there. Limited parking space around, cramp and drivers there ain't gonna be gentleman to you.

I would like to digress a little bit here. The other day I went to the Imbi road computer center to look for softwares but was shock to find it almost empty of softwares. I wonder if the authorities has come down hard on these pirated softwares? Anybody know anything?

kokomo
29-12-2006, 01:47 AM
I think in Low Yat or nearer to us in Summit, they also sell pirated softwares. Well, I must say nowadays mostly are games that they are selling pirated. Pirated softwares are harder to find lately. MPSJ operation very the kuat these past few months.

In this new digital mall also I don't see much of those pirated softwares around. Mostly those PS2 games software and computer games software available there.

yes, it's the same in Sg Wang and Low Yat plaza.... Most of the DVDs sellers in Sg Wang have converted their shops into selling T-shirts and sports shoes. Kinda hard to believe when they say they have converted for good.... Maybe they are hiding for a few months?

kokomo
29-12-2006, 02:11 AM
Convert?!?! I think they're still operating it but not on the surface of it. Maybe we just gotta brave ourselves and ask them where we can get those pirated softwares. Ask them to show us the backlane to it. hehe ... suddenly you see the whole lane is like a nite market. All kinds of CDs' that you look for will be there. (sorry folks, just my imagination)

what i read was "Free parking = BIG Problem"

the only "free" parking i know around that area is to double park or to park at residential area. However, they have the risk of getting a saman.

But if you know what to exactly what and where to buy it, you can actually just get someone to sit in the car while you quickily run up to buy it..

If you shop at some of the big outlets, they would subsidise the 1st hour parking..
PM me if you want to know which big outlet offers this.. :)

Any good compare to Low Yat?
prices are almost the same..
as most of the shops there are branches from lowyat plaza..
but i'd prefer lowyat since there's more to see, more choices, easier to make comparisons..

YES, parking in that shopping area is a headache, but from past visits there, parking is available at the MPPJ (now DBPJ) building, next to that mall. Flat rate after 6 or 7pm(unsure) and hourly charges at day time. Finding a parking space on the roadside especially at peak shopping hours is a nightmare (never been pleasant since 15-20 years ago) unless one hangs around and patiently wait for someone to vacate the lot. Years ago,(when living in PJ and frequent that area) I used to park at the residential area nearby since my visits almost never exceeded an hour), but its now unwise to park there where those vultures are now efficient at slapping fines. Parking in Cold Storage building is somewhat expensive and a hassle..not recommended.

On a lighter side, a tidbit secret lies hidden inside that MPPJ building one floor below the parking level. Its Pak Wahab's pisang goreng. (daytime sales only) This is THE BEST I've known for donkey decades. No one does it like Pak Wahab...of course mod KW doesn't serve the same thing..LOL!. :D

On the whole, if one wants to spoil oneself for choice and variety ...Low Yat Plaza still rules..for now!.

If your purpose there is not to buy bulky items, I'd suggest you park at some KL monorail and hop on one to get there, either at S.Wang or Imbi station..where go have a nice bite at S.Wang before shopping in that area. I usually have a good mee rebus, nasi kandar, teh tarik, and with a filled stomach, stroll for the next few hours window shopping..see sweet young things..whatever! ;).
Its best to go shopping on weekdays. I loath going anywhere similar on weekends. Its nightmarish, both traffic and venue.
BTW, I think its not right to publically discuss indepth or being specific about "ahem" stuff..sorry. Leave that to if you're with a table of friends at the kedai kopi.

Sure man!.. will call you next trip there. I've not been going out lately due to lousy weather nearly every afternoon and didn't think of looking or buying anything yet. I'm looking into adding a particular model of Netgear USB wireless stick (similar to wifi card) for my own certain objectives, was hoping the price dropped, but didn't seem so. Sometime in January..if I can catch u.

Mee rebus with 1 piece of N.Kandar black curry beef..at S.Wang 4th floor..Yummy! (my apologies if offensive to Hindu forumers here. I kowtow!)

Sorry to digress. I am referring to an earlier posting about people not being able to find pirated software / movies in HOT areas. Just to let you guys know, there was a report in Malay Mail about some weeks ago. The jist of the report is to say that, "Government's action of putting 'spys' in Malls are futile because pirated VCD / DVD stalls are still operating"..... The Malay Mail highlighted an "AREA" near bukit bintang, pirated sellers were "pulling" the reporters to buy pirated movies, software, etc.!!

then the next day, the department defended themselves saying that what they are doing is not futile and he go on to give more excuses.

Well, I guess to SAVE FACE, some "sandi-ware" (or is it sandiwara ? haha not hard-ware / soft-ware) have to be shown to the public. How effective all this will be, only time can tell.

Common lah guys, pirated Movie sellers are not on foot. Look out for eating places, gambling places (4D), etc.
Also, go to the NOT SO HOT supermarkets and you still find a Ah CHong or Ah Kau operating there.

Try Klang's Shaw Centrepoint for instance

Absolutely spot on!.. saw a table stall full of "ahem" right here in an SJ food mall..blatant!.

I've said it before, I'm NOT supportive of "ahem" stuff but when the aR** record distributors and shops are pricing the originals (not to mention tax can be slapped for personal imports) at sky high prices, some more sing the old tune of "hey kar!" I'm hopping mad!.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before but I have SMSed Rakan Cop, and Phoned the Police to inform that these DVD sellers are selling PORNOGRAPHIC DVDs in broad day light. but well, these peddlers are still operating.

I can tolerate them selling pirated DVDs though I don't support them but please, don't sell pornographic in public!!! Imagine a young child who sees those images of nude people!

I couldnt agree more with BS. If one compare the prices of most if not all intellectual properties being sold in, say the US, are a direct (well almost) from the products sold locally in RM. A movie DVD sold in the US for about US25 is sold here for almost RM100. Mana boleh. Our wage earners here dont earn in US dollars man! Another example, take books. A book priced about 10 sterlings will end up here being sold for more than RM60! So, can we blame people who start making xerox copies and buying pirated stuff? The list can go on and on. I think the problem is the IP owners are just plain greedy.
But hey, I am not talking about porno ok? That's a different ball game.

it was Saturday, 20th Jan the grand opening.
Was thinking to go there look see look see around 11AM, drove there and found the MPSJ has sealed off the junction going into Jaya Supermarket, so took another alternative road, and it was jam like hell.
Finally reach Jaya area after 15min in the jam, one glimpse at the crowd and I decided to abandon my plan to go in. There's a huge crowd gathering outside the digital mall, and there's a queue starting from the entrance until the back of the mall, how long I dunno as I can't see the end of the line. Seeing such a long queue under the hot sun, so I cabut lor...
At the end I heard no body queue up to go in when they open the main door, everyone just squeeze in, and it's quite chaotic. All those RM1 items all got sapu within 5 minutes.

Low Yat Plaza would have best prices for recordable media..and in packs of 10pcs for RM9.xx or less..depending on brand. Rule of thumb..stick to established brands..Mitsubishi, Verbatim, Imation..etc..etc.. for best compatibility to your DVD writer.

Other places which may have packs of 10pcs.. Summit USJ, Various Popular Bookstore branches, Sungei Wang IT center..take your pick.

Hmmm...talking bout this, Sunway, Summit and Subang has its own Digital Centres and all are more or less the same. Piracy is rampant in Summit (go figure why a certain YB goes there often for many events as well as the local authorities but yet nothing done) Sunway too is the same. I even saw DVD and VCD sold by a shop called Genius games in Digital One at Subang Parade "under the counter" ...yup, the very Digital One that sponsors the SJ Alert website...ironic isn't it? Ah well, things could be worse.
