Anyone trying Maxis Broadband?

I saw a brochure stating it does not require any fixed line phone. The monthly charges is RM98 (ie. access fee is RM80 and rental of modem is RM18). If u buy own modem...then monthly u will pay only RM80.

The speed is 768Kb/s .... I am thinking to switch over since I pay monthly fixed line rental for nothing (RM26 + RM3 = RM29). Streamyx monthly will be RM66. So the total cost will be RM66+RM29 = RM95. It is about the same with Maxis Broadband but Maxis gives higher bandwidth.

Any feedback... pls share here.

i've just switched over to maxis 3g wireless broadband. they give you a 30 day trial period. you don't pay anything at all when they come to install it for you. but you'll have to return everything within 30 days if you're not satisfied with the service. i kept everything they provided, inclusive of the box and the plastic bags :p (just in case). but you'll have to go to a maxis centre to return all the stuff and to cancel your subscription.

so far no complaints. the speed is over 700 kb/s the few times that i did the speed tests. and yes, it's a far cry better than the stupid supposed 1mb that i get from streamyx (and that is only if i can get connected).

they also provide you with a land line type phone using a 017 number (which is also provided). there is a battery in the modem provided. if the battery is fully charged, you can use it for about 3 hours or so without plugging it into the wall socket.

Most importantly, do they throttle P2P? Can you comment, twohands?
