Chinese or English? Mandarin
Who act? Andy Lau, Choi Si Won, Fan Bing Bing
Got pretty girls or not? one only. btw, got one leng chai too... hehe the young korean

Story centers on a battle during China's Warring States period, a series of civil wars, which spanned from the 5th to the 3th centuries B.C. Based on a popular Japanese manga, which was in turn based a Japanese novel inspired by Warring States history in China.

Yea but its in mandrin. So you think they will come out a cantonese version? If they do, then definitely I'll be the first to watch it. Sigh! Now at the moment gonna find someone to tell me the whole story bout it. :o

Finally got to watch this movie but it's not the "clear" version... and with my limited knowledge of mandarin and the subtitles were hopeless (as it wasn't the clear version), I couldn't really understand the movie.

The story is superb, but the director fails to bring out the best. The strategies and fighting scenes are good, but could be better. The scenes shown, IMHO, are much like Pathfinder, uninteresting. The director have successfully turned a good story into a mediocre one because he fails to emphasize the essense of war and deaths, wit and strategies, friendship and betrayals, love and lost, vice and virtue, honour and glory of victory and pain and shame of defeat... This movie brushes all these aspects on the surface but not indepth enough to instill any feelings or any impact on the viewers.

Notable casts but not enough to make it an epic. No wonder it's off the cinema screens in such a short time. Worthy watch, but leaves me puzzled, and somewhat dissatisfied ...hmmfpffff

Do wait for the ori DVD. Sure to be kau-one. Good subtitles & far-out audio reproduction, plus high quality visuals. Moreover, can select either Mandarin or Cantonese soundtrack. :D

I watched this on pirated DVD, not ori wor.

Still mandarin version (ori Andy Lau voice wor?) but great English subtitle. All in all, i think its a good watch, not another one of those stupid Hongkie movie that keeps on playing along the same genre (e.g. mahjong lar, triad association lar, ect ect.)

Just watched the vcd yesterday.....cantonese version....not bad.... :)

a brief summary:
Zhao state dispatch an army of 100,000 troops to atack Yin state but in between there is this small province Liang with about 4,000 ppl.......so this put the King of Liang in a dilemma whether to surrender and let Zhao to bypass or defend their homeland from being attack.....

Thus, they engage the help of Mogi clan who are well known in war strategies.....and Andy Lau aka Mogi Geli (Mak Cheh Kak Lei in cantonese) arrived just in time to defend the Liangs....and the story begins .....the drama facus on the battle....the relation between the hero and the heroine.....the king and his people......the wits of the Zhao general and Andy Lau.....the savageness of war......and finally the message of universal luv......

This epic happens just before the unification of China by Yin Zheng aka Shih Huang Ti (State of Qin).....where the 7 states battle to control the entire China.....

OK. I just saw the DVD and it sucked so bad that it made me want to put my fingers through my eyes and into my brains and then swirl my fingers in my brain.

The problem with the movie? There's no villain. Everyone is the villain except Andy who is a stupid hero.
