saw the opening ceremony till 330 this morning!
just one word - WOW!
qatar spent a lot for this ceremony but i like the part where they invited other countries to showcase their culture - this is good indeed! truly asian lah!
singers came from hong kong, india, italy and an arab country.
the lighting of the game's flame was one of the highlights of the opening where the prince rode his horse up a 45 degree incline to the top of the ramp, and very nearly didn't make it!
m'sia, which lost the bid to host this 15th edition of the games, may not have put up such a fantastic show, especially asking other asian countries to add content!
can't wait for the closing...

The bill for the Doha games comes close to $3 bil. Think m'sia can afford it? we will be banckrupt even before the games start and then we m'sians hv to foot the bill for generations to come...

it's not the bill. it's the invitation to other countries to showcase their culture at the asian games, which is what these cultures represent anyway. this idea is wonderful and should be repeated at other games like olympics, commonwealth and asean games. let's see if china can top this in 2008...
anyway, nowadays, for any country to host any of the international games, money, and lots of monies, must be spent; so if m'sia wants to be the host, then they must be creative in getting the monies BEFORE they bid for them...
but you are right on generations of m'sian "footing" the bill... look at the 1998 KL commonwealth games... the books have yet to be closed, per citizen nades of thesun. even the manchester games books, held 4 years later have been closed, and with a profit to boot!
now on to the games proper, and hopefully m'sia can come back with some medals. nicol, keep it up!

Yup truly asia and real sensitive to other race and religion…in the sports village where a huge complex was build for all the delegates and athletes, with all the facilities, for training, shopping, lounge, you name it, they had inside the sports village, the sports complex was a city for it self!
They even build sanctuary for all religion! So that players need not go far to seek strength and confidence from the All Mighty…..It only shows Qatar’s sportsmanship and well organized and he sensitiveness of other races… Bravo
