I am not talking about genetic heritage

Would you say that, using too much hair gel or using the wrong shampoo are some the reasons for sooner bald patches? i see more adults and youth having this problem then before...patches of baldness and thinning of hair.

One of the reasons for baldness is testosterone - the male hormone. For guys, you should be proud of baldness because it means you have too much of the male hormone. :) And don't think ladies escape this as well because even women produce some amount of the male hormone and they do get thinning hair but not as bad as men.

You know how to stop getting bald? Men should go take female hormones to counteract the male hormones. unfortunately, it means a lowered libido and possibility of developing breasts ! ;)

Seriously, i do believe some people do get bald due to some medical condition. Would the resident doctors throw some light there?

is there a cure for baldness?Read more about Male Pattern Baldness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male_pattern_baldness). There are many treatments available to slow down hair loss. I'm not sure though whether it can be totally reversed.

Not everyone will look good when shaved. 1 fella who looks good when shaved is Bruce Willis. So, think carefully before taking the shaven path! ;)

Hahaha. I could see that it was a joke but nonetheless, I felt it'd be fun to dish out some advice. After all, there may be some punks reading or maybe even participating in this forum! LOL :D

I heard someone saying that to avoid balding, try not to put the shampoo on your head directly on the same spot every time.. or better, mixed it with water in your hands first... I'm doing this now... and keeping my fingers crossed that I won't go bald too fast when I'm older!! hehe..

How I know... I am using it... :o Oso suffering from hair loss/thinning. but since using the above, less hair on the shower floor-trap after the shower.. :D By the way, someone oso told me to keep the (very!) hot water from hitting the scalp/crown of the head when showering... your guess is as good as mine... :)

Uhm... how much is too much? I mean, a person easily lose about 50-80 strands of hair everyday.

For females, idk if its myth or not, but if your hair is too long, u tend to drop more hair as the weight is pulling it down. Oily scalp is another reason, but don't wash it until its dry (then u get dandruff!).

I think what kwchang said has some truth re the hormones... but I thought it was the female hormone, estrogen? Coz my friends told me they drop hair by the chunks after giving birth, but i have no personal experience, so can't confirm.

As for maggi mee, eh, I though u will just be well preserved when you die like Lao Fu Tze?? (j/k) :p

All these expensive and chinese medicine smelling hair products.. once you start using them and see some kind of results, you can't stop... because if you do, you will be back to square one again in due time.. so.. no wonder these companies are making a fortune out there.. time for me to start one like that too.. haha... :p

After hours of googling.
Minoxidil seem work. Refer the description below or google for more info.
I bought one few weeks ago in www.eBay.com.my keyword: minoxidil

Good luck

WHAT IS MINOXIDIL?

Minoxidil is a vasodilator (the process in which the blood vessels expand), originally used to treat high blood pressure in an oral drug known as Loniten. During the use of this drug, it was later discovered to have significant "hair regrowth" capabilities. In 1988, Pharmacia & Upjohn Co. first introduced the FDA-approved formula under the brand name "Rogaine" which was proven to STOP HAIR LOSS in its tracks, and actually help REGROW HAIR BACK THAT WAS ALREADY LOST!!! Since 1996 (patent expired Feb 13, 1996), these products and strengths can now be sold over-the-counter as non-prescription drugs. The minoxidil up for sale is a clear solution, not a foam, gel, or irritating lotion. Both the 2%(Men and Women) and 5%(Men Only) have now been approved by the FDA for over the counter distribution. Although the mechanism of action to this day is still unknown, Minoxidil still exceeds as the number one treatment for hair loss in the United States!!!

WHO CAN USE MINOXIDIL?

Minoxidil has been proven to be effective to stop hair loss and regrow hair for both men and women of all colors and types. Typically the 5% and above is for men only, and the 2% strength is for both men and women. If you are just starting to thin on the top of the scalp, it is recommended that you start with the 2% first, and see how this strength works, before moving on to a stronger concentration. Women should not use any strength higher then the 2%.

DO NOT USE MINOXIDIL IF YOU:
*

Are currently Pregnant or lactating
*

Under the age of 18
*

Currently use other medications on the scalp
*

Have infected, irritated, painful or sunburned scalp
*

If you have any doubts about using this product, talk to your physician first

I believe for male, it's called male pattern baldness. As for women, am not sure of the name but the symptoms are alike. Most likely to be caused by premature aging. My take would be:

Bad diet.
Too much smoking.
Not taking supplements (multi vitamins) to enhance diet.
Too much alcohol.
Scalp sensitivity (allergic reaction towards chemical in shampoo/conditioner/hair colour/hair gel/hair spray).
Hereditary (whether u like it or not).
Medication given by doctors to treat certain ailments.

Cheers :)

Jeeeeeez!.. I've heard enough of the ajinomoto and baldness urban legend from 3-4 generations of people. I think its typically a localized story thats extremely widespread amongst EVERY FAMILY since 60's. I honestly wonder when stupid talk like this would end. I know I don't tell my kids that. Tell them truth, not fibs!.

YES!.. Olive oil (not neccessary virgin..just ordinary) is a good oil for the hair and scalp. A good scalp massage and leaving to season on your head is good for maintenance..just that people blardi lazy or claim no time for such things.
Can't recall accurately, but I think I've seen some Indian mothers doing some hair upkeep, combing and oiling their daughter's beautiful and silky long hair. I wonder how many still do that. I think it was an excellent traditional practice...anyone can further elaborate? I got NO daughter..so DON'T KNOW!.

Stop wasting money in Yun Nam, 101 Hair Care etc etc
They are here for business, not to help with your hair problem.
You will burn RM10k easily within one year with them.
Google online...
Keyword "minoxidil"
Pharmacy is selling 60ml for around rm180, you should able to get cheaper through ebay.com.my or lelong.com.my
