my close co worker is giving me a headache with this scent ..if its mild its okay he seemed to have bathed in perfume..i do like perfume if use sparingly and should smell great when you are very close..not fumes like from this guy...do guys need to use perfume? n do women like men to use perfume or just prefer the natural smell of men.

I use my Harley-Davidson once a while, but rarely. Deodrant works fine for me most times and ofcourse I bath twice a day and scrub myself nicely :) Maybe your colleague is using a cheap perfurme, you should either suggest him a good brand or tell him nicely there is no need to make the office smell like his perfume bottle :D

Maybe you should recommned a mild perfume to him.... so that can make him change.. and safe your nose from loosing the sensory function...hahahah :D

Just like anything else... people tend to over use / over consume ... resulting in negative effect. Your co-worker may think that spraying half of the bottle will help to eliminate his body odour resulted from not taking bath  but not realizing to him ... it has bring negative impact to him .. Maybe u should highlight to him friendly (eg..casual talk with him as the brand he used... then tell him the brand he is using is too strong for him.. then recommend another brand (which has mild smell) to him... :) )

Perfume allergies are becoming a serious issue in North America, especially in the workplace and schools.

There are also issues with irritation and complications from these scented products since many of the scents are chemically produced.

Many schools and workplaces are declaring themselves as scent-free zones. Perhaps you can consider this and bring the idea to your supervisor or manager.

If you are having problems, I am sure that other people may be having similar problems with the perfume.

I remember teaching in a high school with a lot of young men when a perfume called AXE came out...it was a cheap (in terms of cost and quality) perfume for insecure teenagers...

There was not a day that went by without me having watery eyes or sneezing from those boys.....bathing in the spray

Cheers, m

i have really strong body odour at times...esp when i sweat lots. and i sweat quite often. i do use some EDT/perfume...but just a dash. however i use the sticky deodorant.....it closes the pores and hence stops the sweat from coming out of your armpits (major contributor to "aromatic" smell).....works wonders. however u can't apply it the whole day as it is not good....your skin needs to breathe too. so once i get home...i shower straighaway and only use the sticky D next day before i go to work.

Nice thread to discuss :D

I loves perfume, all sort of brands. Erm, I would like guys with perfume. Erm, but I am not sure what kind of perfume this guy used in office. The scent is so soft.. can't really recommend here! :D

But of course, if a guy after shaving... i like that smell too :D but seems like in my office, I can't see anyone with that smell except my ex :D

Can't stand people with perfume. Once gave a lift to a colleague and he left his male perfume scent in my car for days. It is that bad. Much akin to having transported durians in the boot!

It is a fallacy that the use of perfumes is to mask body odour. The correct way is to use deodorant. It has no smell and prevents smell. I don't think there is any worry about the non-pespirant types because your skin continues to breathe.

We may be shy to tell someone he has body odour, but we should not hesitate to tell someone to tone down on his perfume. It is an invasion of public space, my breathing space. :)

An alternative is to use medicated powder after your shower instead of anti-perspirants. That's getting to the root of the problem (bacteria) instead of hiding it under perfumes or blocking pores. Try using Ammens Medicated Powder (J&J used to have medicated powder too but they have stopped that line). If you can't find Ammens, any other brand - such as Aiken medicated powder - will do as well. It's almost an instant solution to your B.O. problems.

Alahai, my other half is also guilty of overusing his perfumes. I have managed to send the message discreetly (i.e. "helping" him to spray it on and asking him if he needs another bottle, he he he) and now he uses them moderately and had switched to more subtle tones of eau du toilettes.

For body ordour, there is a crystalized stone type thingy (no smell) that they sell in pharmacies (I got mine from Guardian) that you rub all over your sweat prone areas on your body after you bathe/shower. So far, I have been using it on and off for the past 3 years and no smell even if you don't apply any deodourants. It lasts for months depending on your usage and how you store it.

I too wear perfumes. Everyday diff smell. Heheh ... I have now collected more than 10 bottles of perfumes. No choice'lah. Simply b'cos am a perfume collector. Loves to stay around those perfume counter checkin' out on their new perfumes and promotions.

So that day, if smells bad, just hang around that area. Confirm you go home wif a nice smell. Girls also will stick to you more. :D Err .. take note, not all girls like perfume smells. Some cannot tahan and will stay away from you.

Btw, I thought man's BO that's called "lam yan mei", so women should love it right? Hehehe .... :p

Not all deodorants work. So I guess men try to mask their BO by using more perfume/cologne. My hubby had that problem with deodorants earlier when I first met him. But now he found a product that works for him and now he smells really good :p

Yes, I do...only socially which might turn into an addiction if I don't stop soon.

Anyway, my earlier thread about why I smoke have a twist to it. See if you can find it. Hence the use of the " " smiley. ;)

I don't use perfume not allowed :D

Occasionally I use body shop's aloe vera anti-perspirant deodorant, before a jog or work out.

yeah, chang is correct.. but I don't think anyone would dare to tell that ppl.. e.g. today, there was a manager SMOKING in the office. gosh, so smelly but then, none of us.. EXECS were that dare to go into his office & ask him to quit smoking.. for polluting the environment. :p :D
