why you dont want to go to Pudu station. that place is still the best to get buses to the north..
if i am not mistaken, at the old railway station, KL, there is Nice Bus that goes to Penang

well, it's a bit complicated actually... the driver who supposed to send the one taking the bus to the station only knows her ways in subang or to kl sentral... pudu station is out of her reach...
yes, nice/plusliner runs from the old ktm station but it's also a bit too far for her though...

ask you friend to send you to kelana LRT station. then from there you take the lrt to pasar seni station. then from there you walk to puduraya
or
take the metro bus and go straight to kotaraya. from there you walk to puduraya
Well, ze old KTM station is just around the corner from KL Sentral if u can find ur way around......but anyway, if KL Sentral is the only option, the one taking the bus need to know his/her way around KL Sentral and get on an LRT to go to Plaza Rakyat station then walk over to Puduraya.
From Pudu there are bus leaving to the north every few minutes. I recommend the Konsortium Bas Ekspres buses www.kbes.com.my which offer the most comfortable buses (RM38 Super Snoozer with personal entertainment system but limited schedules) or the regular RM27 VIP buses that leaves KL hourly.

emm... sounds like there's no option really but to take it from pudu station...
alex, it's not me who is going to take the bus nor the driver, otherwise it will be much easier... :)
appreciate the feedback and directions, please let me know if there's any other better ways, thanks a bunch!
There are other options, like taking the bus from Jln Duta station but the frequency is less so u shd prebook the tickets if u know which company operates from there.
Or he/she cld take SE Express bus from Sunway to Penang but it is not as 'express' as the others operating from Pudu. The bus picks up passengers from Sunway at 10pm, go to Klang bus station, board another bus to head north at maybe 10.30-11pm, then it stops at special rest stop for express buses off PLUS highway for some 30 minutes or more, and reaches Penang at 4-5am. Not the most comfortable trip, but it may be bearable for some. Cost about Rm27-28 too. Call this no. for more info:- 03-56342085
