Hi guys and gals...

How has the quality of water in your area been?
Not sure is it just my house, does anyone else get brown water often?

This is especially cumbersome, when the brown water gets into the washing machine and stains the clothes.... Anyone has brilliant ideas on how to avoid the brown water from entering the washing machine?

Why do you think I spent money on a back-wash pre filter? This brown water issue is an accepted thing. The authority seems to give excuses not solutions. So we've to live with it. I'm surprised you highlight this. Are you new in USJ/SJ?

my area used to light brownish water but last week, the water authority came and fixed something (they cease water supply for half a day) and now seem like the water is much much clearer. That means, I can postpone my water filter installation then. hahahah :D

I suggest why not you file a complain to the Water authority? They hv a customer service number.

The water at my area is very very dirty too.... Brown colour, I would say...
Just have a new back-wash pre-filter and an in-house filter (for drinking) installed 3 weeks ago. I was really shocked the 1st time I back-wash my filter... The water was like longkang water... Dark brown...

What Brownsugar is talking about is those Water Filtering system fixed in the car porch (those like rocket type, standing up or another type is those membrane filter system, thinner and smaller). Among those brands can consider are Bacfree (the shop is just at the corner of SS19), Hydro1, etc..etc. :D

Friendly warning... don't believe too much of what the salesman telling you if you happened to walk into any shopping complexes....there are many many local brands which the quality of the filteration very much depends on the sands they used. They can claim similar but not all are the same....

P/S : I am not water filter salesman... just learnt from talking to people.

My drinking water is twice filtered and boiled. But I notice last week too that water quality is bad cos there are brown sediments at the bottom of my water bottles and jug.

I know what you mean about the washing... that's why i got the panasonic washing machine... the ones that come with filter as well.

The water in the whole hse is clean.. My clothes dun "turn yellow" after wash.. I m quite satisfy with it... I have another 1 for hse drinking water... The one with 6 filters... :)

Most machines come with filter you are suppose to wash it once in while otherwise the inflow will be reduced.

Why wash clotes when the water is dirty wait for awhile to get back normal..usually after repairs the water is dirty and muddy..i usually switch off the main tap and wait awhile.

Get a master filter it will solve your problem. No more dirty laundry and etc. Now days almost all house has the master filter. You can get it aboout RM 1500.00 only and it last very long. You only need to backwash ( maintenance ) evry week. Bachwash you do it by yourself, F.O.C mah. :)

I have a master filter (the rocket type), one drinking water filter (the 6 filters type) and the cheap type of filter for my washing machine.

Even with the master filter, the filter at my washing machine still gets dirty very fast. I have to change the sponge thingy (dunno what it's called) every two weeks.

Will the powers that be ever do something about the dirty water situation in Subang or has this state of affairs become an accepted norm?

hi eddy,

if u are just want to do the washing machine area, just install 2 or 3 stages normal filter, the one that u can get in most of the hypermarket around RM20 each.

it is cheap and the filter it cost only RM6-8 per pack of 5, changing every month once, so your maintenence cost is around RM3 per month and RM36 peryear.

Hi,

The RM3/month option seems appealing :D

Yea, isn't it ironic, where we wash clothes and end up having clothes stained by the dirty water? And we have to buy a filtration system which is more expensive than the washing machine itself  - too bad my washing machine dun have filter inside.

Will see how this goes. Thanks to all for your feedback. Keep them coming!
