Dear Forumers

I have been using a Canon Printer on my Mac pc since May/June this year. But since 3 weeks' back, the printer refuses to print. It lights up when I switch it on, but just refuses to do its job!

Would appreciate some advise and if someone could have a look at it, that would be even better! I am no expert when it comes to these issues... :o

Thanks mate(s)! ;)

Is there a printer self test mode that you are able to enter to verify whether it is the printer or mac?

could it be the ink cartridge is not properly inserted or maybe it has run out of ink? Yeah, there is a printer test page u can print out using the printer. Check out your manual on how to print that page (normally u switch off the printer, press and hold the ONLINE button, and then switch it on back). U don need a PC or a Mac to do this.

Thanks CCY and HTH for respective outputs.

The manual does not talk about Test Print Page. I tried your method above, but don't see anything happening.

I think its more to it. Any other tries? :(

What is the exact model of the canon printer.....

Did the pc detect n show that the printer is connected ,that it is alive but not kicking....?
Not too familiar with mac though on where to checked that out.

Try testing the printer on another computer, if you can.

I finally managed to do a Test Print!
But when I clicked on Printer setup, the printer is set to "Any Printers". When I edit list of printers and try to add on the canon printer, the message reads :

An error occured while trying to add the selected printers.
successful-ok-conflicting-attributes.

Please help, anyone! Thank you.

sorry, not familiar with Mac. :)
but looks like the printer is already installed, and when u try to add the printer again, it reports there is a conflicting attributes (since it's already been installed).

It is very important to isolate the problem first whether it is from the printer or the pc or both. Are you able to do a self test just on the printer ? Or use another pc to confirm whether it is a hardware of software problem. Hope that there is such a self test mode on your model though.
If you debug it together with the pc ,it would open up to a lot more factors that can go wrong and put you on the wrong track to rectify the fault.

Hi, finally managed to get a Mac expert and he said there were conflicting drivers. Anyway, what he did was to reinstal the whole thing again and and ta da! its working fine now.

Thanks all :) .
