Like any new neighbourhood, the early settlers in USJ faced a multitude of problems from lack of public transportation to petty thefts and break-ins and poor service from the local authority. This is also because at the initial period when the community is still very young, there was no concerted effort to deal with the local council and the police.
To tackle these issues, a Residents Association was formed in July 1991, with Arthur Lee as the protem committee Chariman. Other members included, Lee Peng San and Tony Xavier. Regular meetings were held at the Chairman's residence to address and tackle the various issues faced by the residents, with the support of the police as well as the developer.
The preliminary success of the Association prompted members to register it with the Registrar of Societies. Tony Xavier, the protem committee Vice Chairman, was handed the task. The formation of USJ Residents Association was approved by the ROS in October 1993.
Since then the RA has been diligently involved not only in tackling problems faced by residents, but also in organising events for the community.
Tony Xavier, the first elected chairman of USJRA says, "It is our hope that the RA will grow in strength for the benefit of the residents".

How to become a member
Membership is very simple. Any resident (non commercial) whose addresses is within USJ that is from USJ 1 to USJ 28 (I understand USJ 29 is now known as Putrajaya) can sign up as members. You can contact us and we will send the membership form to you. First time member will pay RM 12.00 which is 2 years membership at RM 4.00 per annum and a first time registration fee of another RM 4.00. After filling up the form, you post it back to us. Make the cheque payable to Persatuan Penduduk USJ and send it to the address provided. So far we have about 300 members. We have our election biennially meaning once in two years. The next one is schedule in the first quarter of 2007.

Wow, a very brief yet informative explanation given. Good work Chairman! I would be glad if you can let me know the followings :-
1. Why we should be a member?
2. How active is this committee, hmm...I mean do all members or committee meet up regularly (say weekly or monthly) to discuss on issues?
:p

I have email to the committee asking for the membership application form but seem no response?
Can I suggest to put the application form online in PDF format..so that people can download and print easily.
Also, why no one can answer my 2 questions above?
