just fyi , not for highlighting which country ranks #1 ..

Malaysia ranks joint #3 in terms of "getting credit" ..
is this really so? .. or have they factored in the "ah longs" .

Is this for foreign investors or does it include local as well?

"Is this for foreign investors or does it include local as well?"

not clear whether such criteria were applied.

Why be coy? Spore is ranked #1 in this survey.

The top 10: Spore, New Zealand, US, Canada, Hong Kong, UK, Denmark, Australia, Norway and Ireland.

Msia is ranked #25. Thailand is #18, ahead of Msia. Go figure.

But, as analysts in Spore have already pointed out, this survey is not really conclusive. All it does is give indications of areas which are problematic for business efficiency.

For example, it takes 6 procedures and 6 days to register a business in Spore, compared with the world's best practice of 2 procedures and 2 days in Australia.

I think that the Msian govt is well aware of the problem. But they can't figure out what to do with the over-staffed bureaucracy without treading on too many toes and igniting too many firestorms.

err, but hor... Malaysia is ranked #3 in 2004 and #4 in 2005 for investor protection amongst those 175 countries.

In Msia it takes probably 30 procedures to get a licence and you have gotta butter some1 bread at every stage.
