I'm a mum of 3 young children, an educator and also an avid reader who appreciates the English Language.
If there is a reading club for kids ( aged 5 to 12 ) in Subang Jaya/ USJ area, would there be any interested participants?
Some friends and myself would like to initiate this club to cultivate the habit of reading. Other aims are of course, to encourage expressive reading and story telling, public speaking skills, creative thinking and writing. There will be activities such as book discussions, trivias, simple workshops, visits to the library and maybe occasional get- togethers.
A nominal sum will be charged upon registration as well as per each activity organised.
Do post a reply or contact me directly at my email if you are genuinely interested. As adults/ parents, it's only through our support and encouragement these kids will see the joy of loving the Language. Well, parents are most welcome to volunteer or be one of the facilitators!

Great to finally see a reply! Thanks for showing interest in our endeavour.
We do have interesting activities in mind but in order for them to materialise, we do need to have more interested parents...

So we're keeping our fingers crossed and checking daily in anticipation of more replies!

I'll gladly 'volunteer' both my kids (11 and 13) if there are activities covering that age group. I am of the opinion that school curriculum just goes through the motions but do not develop anything in English for my kids. I do have one problem, the kids of mine are not avid readers.

Well.. my son has a long way to go... he's only 4 months :D Anyway am reading to him daily to generate an interest in books. I'm an avid book lover and hope he will be too.

Is this bookworm club originate from s'pore? i remember something like that in my early age there was a club like that but i never got round to becoming a member though I am aware of it.

To all the avid readers who have responded.............

There is hope, after all ..... for an English Club to materialise. I'm confident that this effort would appeal to all kids, even if they don't habitually pick up a book anytime, anywhere! Well, as long as their parents serve as good role models.......... :)

this is a totally new and original club, soon to be founded, MADE IN SUBANG JAYA........ purely the efforts of concerned parents, nothing borrowed or innovated from any part of the globe... something to be proud of..

We are just gathering indications of interests, so no members yet, besides our own children ... maybe about 6 or so ( ages from 6 to 11 ).

Comtemplating an inaugural project to take off during the school holidays, sometime end of November. Will keep all posted!!! Have a good day and Happy Reading!
