I am quitting my lousy job next month. I am looking foward to work on ships. As a Mech dip holder, I don't care what position I will held actually.

I am looking foward to work at Starcruise, MISC or as suggested by LYN forummer-NOL...

The only problem is how to apply and get on ship and work? Internet? Phone calls?

Do share the work experience on ships!!

Hi kenny,

So, you wanna work onboard, eh?! Well, for a start, it is not an easy job to apply for. Companies like MISC and other shipping lines have a cadet program where they take in school leavers with good grades and train them either to be captains or engineers. After a duration of training, they are then sent to serve on their fleet of bulk, o&g or kontena ships. Other carriers hires experienced engineers who have sailed before.

But don't be disheartened, my friend. A carrier onboard is a real challenge. By your enthusiasm, I guess you are mentally prepared to live surrounded by the sea and sea only and physically prepared to go on 'manual' rather than 'auto' drive   Do you get what I mean, buddy? On the physical part, I certainly won't last more than 3 days lest I'm prepared to change my orientation.

Job offers for this line of industry comes in the local dailies. Don't expect to get them from their website.

All the best, man....
