The answer is yes, but depends on the circumstances and who you know?!

if you go first thing in the morning and you talk to the officer there and provide them with a very good reason why you need it in a day...maybe they will give you exemption

Don't think Airport can..it's only a branch office. You are better off at the main immigration office. KL, Shah Alam, Putra Jaya or any major cities in M'sia.

I don't think so. Earlier this year, I only realised 2 days (in the evening) before I was going to Bangkok that my passport had expired. So the next day I went to do my passport and begged every officer I saw if I could collect my passport the same day, as my flight was in the morning the next day. They all said no - and were unsympathetic because they said that i should have checked on my passport earlier and not wait till last minute. Anyway, first thing the next morning, I collected my passport and zoomed straight to the airport.

my mother-in-law renewed her passport in Port Dickson (HQ or branch?), she went in the afternoon, got it back the same day! But different office, maybe different policy (and efficiency).

Every few weeks there's a thread about renew/apply passport. This sucks! I think we should all contribute to a thread and let Chang make it a sticky.
