Vehicles Stolen in USJ 23 & USJ 26

We just got this notice from our Pro Tem Committee that on:

4th July between 12.00am and 4am a Toyota Hilux was stolen from USJ 23 and on

5th July a brand new Toyota Fortuna (bought a week ago) was stolen from the owner's car park in USJ 26. The thieves opened the auto gate and drove out the stolen vehicle passing the Guards.

I don't know any added info on this but I am beginning to wonder, even with Guards cars are getting stolen?

Anyway, be warned.

wonder if we gotta look for this vehicles in usj and bu, with two to four malay guys inside, in the next weeks ??

Can we blame the guards for this? If the car belongs to the residents...probably the car will have easy access in and out. Blame the guard for not recognising the driver?...

Did the Protem Committee fo USJ23 & 26 find out how the culprits entered their area before the cars were stolen? If it was by car, then perhaps the guards can be at fault but if they had walked in, it can be difficult for the guards to identify owners by the car.

Meanwhile, it is unavoidable that autogates can be opened when someone correctly matches the radio frequency of its transmitter. According to our autogate installer, older autogate systems had fixed built-in radiowave transmitter, whereas, newer ones allow users to change its frequencies via dip switches located within its transmitter & receiver.

Have you disassembled yr auto-gate lock mechanism? I have. My conclusion is that anyone with a reasonably strong magnet should be able to lift the metal bolt that locks the gate. Perhaps someone can tell me I am wrong.

Nonetheless, do not trust your auto-gate to provide security. For that reason, I chain my front gate every night. The thieves may unlock the auto-gate mechanism but they will find it tough to unlock my chain.

Can we have a poll or survey here ? How many Toyotas owners (other makes too!) have had their vehicles stolen, soon after sending their cars for serviced, polished or car-washed.

I have a hunch that there is a possibility that these thieves are working hand in hand with the service centers employees. I may be wrong but then again...

My rational is that - we fill in ALL the particulars of ourselves on the jobsheet ( address included !) and we leave the car to these people... some of us actually giving them the whole set of carkeys, alarm and steering lock keys ( to possibly duplicate or copy. :mad: )

I just realised that my Avanza was actually stolen about 20 days after it was sent for its general servicing....

When you send your Toyota for servicing, you have to give them the car keys with remote control as well as the immobilzer key, isn't it? After all, without the immobilizer key, after they service, theoretically they would not be able to start the car. The theory is that without the (red) master immbolizer key, they cannot duplicate the immbolizer key, yes? Or am I too naive to think that way?

Spoke to a UMW Toyota service man formerly from Federal Highway, apparently this MO existed wayyyyyback. Seems the fellas that clean the car after service had allegedly had a hand in the cars getting stolen :eek: Keyword: Allegedly!

Anyway - just be on the bloody safe side, its either an expensive steering wheel/pedal lock with upgraded/added security ( which includes a damn long chain and padlock to the nearest lamp post! :mad: ) or miserable insurance heartache wait and inconvenience... :(

My wife's Toyota Altis 1.8 was stolen a week after its first service, check the records.... UMW Toyota knew that too, I made sure they did!

Was your wife's Altis stolen from the house or elsewhere? Do you suspect someone duplicated the key?
