View Full Version : TAIPAN Kayu restaurant
Latest happening in TAIPAN!!! Notice that KAYU restaurant is expending their business to the ONE WAY Street besides its building. Tables and Chairs were set on the ROAD it self!!! I really am shock as these restaurants owner are getting more and more daring. To my surprise is how come MPSJ did not notice. Don’t they have officers patrolling in SUBANG JAYA??? Or have they been “Kau Tim”??? :(
Try submitting a complaint at MPSJ website. See what happens.

Then you should check out Restaurant Tanjong at USJ 9 adjacent to the Shell and Petronas petrol kiosks.
When MPSJ officers are away, they would place their chairs all over the road in front of their restaurant. Much like when the cats are away the rats come out to play. This has been going on for several years mind you. MPSJ seems to be powerless, or has simply been koa tim already (?).

Nowadays, MPSJ will camp outside Tanjung after 12am. They will usually leave after 2am or after something. If they kao tim, would they face this nuisance? but most of us just love to eat outside. It is another malaysian open culture aside from the open house, which is open air. If there are no demand for open air outlets, NONE will place their tables and chairs on the roadside.
I believe TAIPAN Kayu restaurant are just doing what their patrons wants. OPEN AIR environment. If you don't like the way things at Kayu, then the only thing u can do is to boycott Kayu.

Notice that KAYU restaurant is expending .. these restaurants owner are getting more and more daring. (
The prices are high. Sometimes, not displayed or if displayed, are unclear. You can have Ketam Besar or Ketam Kecil - but in the end, kecil or besar, its expensive. Kayu is known for its relatively high price, but they still hold their chin up- because they have good, fast service.
But the patrons dont care about all that, and gave even better justification for the restaurant to expand, sideways it seems.
the stuff at kayu taipan is expensive ..
but about the chairs n tables on the road... it seems if there are customers sitting ther... mpsj cannot take the chairs n tables.. they can only take those that are unoccupied .. so .. wat mamaks usually do is .. once they see mpsj coming .. they start keeping those unoccupied ones and tell their customers to stay at their seats .. coz sometimes customers kan cheong also and start standing up ..

Well……Boycott would be an Option but it’s not about the food or the Cost of food. It’s the manners these people have no concern bout the LAW and inconveniencing others as long they make their $$$$. They abuse the law because they could AFFORD ($$$) to get away with it. MPSJ should give stern warning and maybe DON’T renew their License.

i remember that mpsj was there, maybe a year ago.one lorry cpl. of ppl loading chairs and tables on the lorry. but i don't think they really miss those tables
I bet Kayu's team of cost accountants factored in the replacement cost of the chairs & tables you're sitting on into the price of food. No wonder so expensive lah! :p

Yeah jc86 is right. MPSJ can't take the chair that the customers are sitting on. But anyways Kayu is too overrated. The food is only average. Tasted better Nasi Kandar in places like SS2

Not entirely, I remember they being just as expensive when they were operating alone at SS2 Chow Yang (early 90's). It was like RM5+ for a simple plate with chicken, (costs a lot more if with seafood) where others averaged RM4.50 at Jln TAR and other places. I reckon they're very opportunistic on those who can easily afford without grumbling.
IMO, they're NOT cheap nor value!.
