Here's a tough one...

In a village live an egg seller named Ah Ma.. One day, Ah Ma took a basket full of eggs to the market to sell. When she arrive, customer #1 bought half the basket and Ah Ma gave customer #1 half an egg free.

Then customer #2 came and bought half of what's left in the basket and Ah Ma gave customer #2 half an egg free.

Then customer #3 came and bought half of what's left in the basket and Ah Ma gave customer #3 half an egg free.

At this moment, there is no more eggs left in the basket.

QUESTION: How many eggs did Ah Ma bring to the market to sell?

I know i used a pretty long way to calculate it..
but here's how i did it...

I found out that customer #3 must have bought only half an egg in order for AhMa to give him/her the other half and finish off her eggs.

So..
1 = 50% - 0.5
50% = 1.5
100% = 3

So that means customer #2 must have been left with 3eggs to buy, hence she/he bought half of all that which is 1.5eggs.

So..
3 = 50% - 0.5
50% = 3.5
100% = 7

LoL... i know i used a 'cacated' way to calculate it..
Any math pro wanna show a simpler way ?

OK here's one specially for bee emm double oh seven es end ar......

In the middle kingdom, there live a king who owns the best apple orchard in the world. The apples in the orchard are so sweet, you'd have to sit down when you eat it.

Anyway, due to this, the king has employed 100 security guards who keep watch of the orchard 24 hours a day.

One day, Ahmad wanted to see if he can steal some apples from the orchard. So he went to see the head security guard and made a deal. The deal was:

When ever you see a security guard, you have to give the security guard half of what you have in your hand and the guard will give you back 1 apple. You have to do this everytime you see a guard.

So here's the million dollar question: How many must Ahmad take so that the amount he took stays the same when he gets out. I.e. if he take 100 then when he gets out of the orchard, he still has 100.

2 is correct. Every time Ahmad see a guard, he gives the guard what's half in his hand which is 1. Then the guard gives back ahmad 1 so Ahmad gets back what he gave. ;)

Ok...here's one regarding frogs.

A frog is in the middle of a 20 feet radius circle. The frog needs to get out of the circle but each time the frog jumps, it gets tired and can only advance half the distance of what it jumped previously. Assume that the first jump is 1 feet.

E.g. 1st jump = 1 feet. 2nd jump = 0.5 feet 3rd jump = 0.25 feet.

How many jumps does the frog need to get out of the circle?

Firefly, don't know how to explain the riddle la. The thought of a keyboard (a computer keyboard, not musical tho) just came into my mind at that time. I guess it's correct to say that we cannot turn a lock on a keyboard, neither could we go anywhere (physically) when we press the Enter and Esc key. Right? :)

ps: on the other hand, on a musical keyboard, on a piano for eg..one could actually go places and escape..spiritually and mentally..and unlock some locks. :) (that's just me)

Actually phones connected to the telecoms exchange is run entirely on battery current (DC) suppled at the exchange - hence standard no-frills type of phones do not need electricity. Since the phone is in good order - we will assume the exchange is providing enough power for the normal running of the phones.
