The first laptop powered by Intel Centrino Duo core in Malaysia market is Acer , well , and i suppose it's the cheapest laptop in local . Too much feedback from customers . Better turn your own laptop to Lenovo , or local brand like Twinhead , and Ftec if you can't afford the greatest brand ( IBM ) .

Never listen to the sales asistant before buy your laptop , do more research .
Recommend you the IBM T series , Duo core and double your speed when you want to burn a CD , compare to single core , at a reasonable price .

only 7 months...but lucky their service centre near usj3 Taman Perindustrian..hehe

wat 2 do..i buy oso bcoz of their 3 yr warranty.. :) replacement on all hardware parts..

a laptop has got to be a dell, acer, lenovo=IBM as they have comprehensive warranty coverage..

JeremyT:
*IBM laptops are being rebranded as Lenovo..The series could be available in a different Lenovo model number..

Jianwei, it happened sometimes to our laptop or PC. Don't be too stressful abt it. Like KPC said, it's all in the mind. You decide whether you want to be upset or stay out of it. You don't let this thing get into your nerve... At least your laptop is under warranty... btw, I always use Dell, for my company and also for my personal use... ;)

mayb u need to increase ur ram to 1Gb - 2Gb ?

ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X700 is a mid-range graphic card le..if u need a great card u might be spending way more..rm 1900/card ? i dun think u need to change the laptop..u can jz upgrade the 3d card..or try adding more ram beforehand.

oh..now they come out wif 'Mobile 3d cards' le..the newer generation laptop motherboards can support..but the 3d cards are not as powerful as their desktop brothers..n more costly coz its much smaller in size n different architecture..

you mean MXM? last i heard it wasn't catching on too quickly.. the modules would probably cost a bomb too..

next-gen graphics tech..

More for pc. SLI (enables concurrent use of 2 Cards @ 2 GPUS)

More for laptop. MXM (tech to increase clock cycles in GPUs)

i mean current laptops oso have expansion slots 4 3d card..but the 3d card jz different in design, being more components on a smaller expansion board. there are 3d cards released for laptops (without mxm)

example..pci express ATI mobility series or nvidia go series..these are only released 4 laptops..

kress

huh? expansion slot? since when? the only way i know of changing the gpu in a lappie is by dismantling it and putting in the new gpu. And thats only possible if the vendor has a better gpu for that system.

its like a motherboard expansion slot la..1 slot 4 u 2 put in the 3d card..shaped like a pentium mmx chip

hi,

registry problems has nothing to do with the brand of the notebook.

Normally not, but it could be due to bios or software provide by the maker causing the registry problem. Normally due to improper software installation/uninstallation.

Sickening.

When the Acer logo comes out after you press the power button, press F2. Then navigate to the "Advanced" tab. Highlight "IDE HDD" with your arrow keys then press F5 until it goes to the topmost. If there is no "IDE HDD", it means that the IDE cable for your Hard Disk is not plugged in properly.

For everyone's information, Broadcom UNDI PXE is a network boot system. Due to the top piority of "Network Boot", the laptop attempts to boot from the network when a network cable is not plugged in. This results in a boot failure.

You'll have to pay a premium for VAIOs generally. If you're price sensitive, go for a Dell. My Inspiron 700m is still going strong, even though I've heard some horror stories from other people.
