After I have reread what kpc wrote above it is pattenly obvious that it is much ado about nothing really. Kwchang is right. Who say that we cannot convert a person from a religion to no religion? Just distract him/her with all the riches of the world and glamour lifestyle and before you know it, the person has become worldly and couldn't bother with religion. :eek:

However, I did not see any real trend of thought by kpc. As usual, his threads seem to start by his (kpc's) own whim and fancy without any objective. Hence you people were 'led by your noses' by kpc to think that he had an agenda. I believe the whole thread is a lot to do with nothing. I'd really like to see it die off a natural death when people stopped posting to it. :)

SunGod is now banned for a period of time. The ban will be removed automatically when the time stops. However, if SunGod misbehaves again, it will be a permanent ban.

The reason for the ban is purely on the grounds that SunGod's agenda was to rock the boat. A lot of his complaints could be handled thru PM or email but he chose not to.

B'cos you are administrator, you should shouldn't have given your opinion that some thread should be left to die.
Some forumers cannot accept unfairness when they see it, so they get agitated and become too vocal.

I think this forum is MUCH better off without the Administrator who is doing more disservice than good. In fact I didnt see any good coming out of him other than selectively penalising members with his own set of skewed judgments. Forum was always peaceful until he comes in and try to play justice.

I quite agree with this statement but the question I am pondering is why is it that there is selective persecution? Joe Gomez and Bugbear call other members degratory names but they got away with it. Others are not so fortunate.

I know it is a very difficult job but you need to take a big step back and look at the whole arena again. Just some clarifications for anyone still dissatisfied with my decisions.
The recent episode of 'trolls' as I can see from my side of the fence is that either one or a number of people were very unhappy at my apparent slant towards Orchi and a number of other members such as JoeGomez and Bugbear (as mentioned by wearealluep). This bone had been picked a few times in the past and for some reason, just because Orchi don't get a banana or ban, some people in the Forum were unhappy.

Perhaps, like wearealluep suggested, I should be really be extra sensitive to the words posted by the 3 persons and quickly chastise them in public. Yes, I believe that would satisfy those who were very angry with me. So, 'my friends' who happen to be Orchi, Bugbear and JoeGomez, I will banana you lot and maybe throw some of you in the plantation for good measure. Then KWChang is a fair moderator, gets a pat on the back and peace will descend on this UEP paradise. Anyone agree with that?

I don't agree. My sincere observation is that these unhappy people just don't like the type of characters we see in Orchi or his 'gang'. I really believe that the unhappy people would actually want a Forum without Orchi or Joe or (fill in the blanks yourself). These unhappy people would hope for the day I ban Orchi and the others in his pack so that we shrink back to the early 90's.

Let me declare that I am no great fan of Orchi, JoeGomez or Bugbear (gosh, I haven't even met BugBear) - hence I don't favour them. I believe I had chastised all 3 of them before and many other 'friends' as well in the past.

What I am a great fan of are people who behave themselves and make this forum interesting, informative and most importantly, community-centric. Despite what vsat said, I will allow for the highly-strung newbies - that's why we have a chatterbox channel. Things need not be strait-laced as before. We can't be the serious forum all the time. We will allow people to let their hair down (within limits) and I will moderate to the best of my abilities.

Our Forum is organic. It grows and changes with the times. If the change is not good, may the old-timers please tel me. I may not always agree with you but I should be made aware and I will try to find a solution. Coming on as multiple nicks won't solve your problems. It just gets you banned when you start being childish. I invite all our members to read the developments in the few moderation threads to see how their behaviour had been before I banned them.

The whole forum has been degraded. No wonder old timers feel as if their home has been hit by Hurricane Katrina. Most of threads are no-brainers with very bad English. If our young people think like this and act like this, this country is doomed.

Nothing wrong. All I am saying and you agreed earlier is that it would be good if you could help to ensure that light-hearted, this is a better word to use, posts of nothing important should not spill over to the main forum. Is this request fair enough?

This is a public forum and it makes no sense to tell the youngsters to go somewhere else just because the forum seems too noisy. i am willing to give them a chance to make good here. The freedom to make noise is in the chatterbox. I know, they sometimes forget and spill-over to the main forum. However, we need not go undercover to create uneasiness here. I hope to steer them whenever I catch the spill-over. I guess some people have less patience.

To those people who disagree with me, I am sorry if you cannot get back your previous Shangrila. Things change. Our community change. We must have a succession plan. We will not be here tomorrow. My hope is to nurture a group of responsible citizens to take over the Forum one day. That cannot happen if we tell them to leave the Forum and for it to remain an exclusive enclave. As a community, we have to learn to accept change and welcome new citizens.

Na. Don't worry about it Jianwei. And you're so right. Everyone has the right to post and think aloud, if someone else doesn't like it, then too bad. You are fine Jianwei, and so much fun and life in you too. :)

However, there must be some tactfulness and sensitivity when giving an opinion esp on personal issues etc...without sufficient information and alike, it's better to keep our mouths shut..and no one should ever hit on another on a personal level and treat another with contempt and disrespect for their own selfish, personal satisfaction or simply, just for the heck of it. Just my few cents.

It's not a democracy. It's a dictatorship and Chang is the dick. ;) (Jeff is root). It's his forum and he has put in a lot of hard work to build the community. His decision is final.

I haven't read the whole thread so i hope i'm not missing anything that can lead to me typing something irrelevant. :p
It seems to be that 'youngsters' are put in a position where they're regarded to have lower intelligence and be more inclined of noise-making.
I just hope it won't delude people into having the over-generalised thought that all youngsters are more inclined towards talking craps / 'so called unimportant matters'.

Anyway, i just wanna express my thought on people of a certain intelligence (or mindset). Have you come across situations in which an older (say, middle aged) man brushing off a youngster's (say, an 18yr old college student) argument and stating stuff like "You young boy dunno anything wan lah" in his process of 'brushing-off'? Sounds something pretty typical huh? I think it's probably justified that 'youngsters' are viewed as the less 'matured thinking' group due to the fact that in general, youngsters lack certain exposures in life. I think it's also probably justified in certain situations, for a person to brush off or oppose another person's idea/thought/argument and not giving a valid reason for it, due to stuff like the inconvenience of giving an elaborate explanation for every argument in life's daily situations. But it's not justified / not good for one person to brush off another person's argument/idea/thought by stating reasons like "You're younger than me, so i shut up" or "I'm your Dad, and therefore i am correct" or "I'm your boss, so i'm correct and you're wrong".
I just wanted to express this because i've come across not-so-intelligent people like.. those.

Haha... the point is, i think people have to bare in mind that not all 'youngsters' lack the experience, exposure, or intelligence of the older group of people. I'm sure some are aware of this fact but i guess it just needs reminding. LoL


Btw, i'm reminded of the issue (that i'd like to express) of 'jealousy' while typing this. I think jealousy can be a bad bad thing :D.
I think it is also very unwise/unintelligible/imprudent for a person to harbour jealousy in certain situations. Some people get jealous of others because others have more say... more money, or others are able to perform better at work/school. I think it can be quite stupid for one person to not like another person or become a lil angry/dissatisfied with another person just because the other person is able to do better. It's ok to envy another person or to want to be able to achieve what the other person has, but it's definitely not ok/prudent to start disliking that other person who has something you want, or is performing better than you are.
Just like it is unwise to hold the over-generalised thought that you have to be respected + your opinions have to be followed just because you're older.

I'm just typing this because i've seen situations in which older people treat the younger ones as though they're less intelligent. To me, i think it's sometimes a mix of jealousy, dissatisfaction, imprudence and lack of intelligence of those older ones. Still quite a prevalant scenario in our society huh?

Oh yeah, something about the forum..
I've always thought some people hold too much thought on what's 'ok' to be in the forum and what's 'not ok'.

I think it's just how the managers/owners/admins of the forum want the forum to be. It can be a platform for discussion, place of idea/info sharing. Its discussions' level of importance can be varied. It can remain more open/relaxed, or it can be restricted to more serious discussions.

I think this forum is functioning very well as a place for important discussions/matters. I think it's also a good place where people can connect and communicate in a relaxed manner. I think it's also a place where expression of ideas runs almost free flow, not being tied to anything. Like it has been said, the forum evolves. Adapting to the needs/wants of the people? So if this is how the 'forum wants to be'... it's doing a pretty good job maintaining itself, as i see it. The forumers keep it alive. The admins keep things in order, such as creating boundaries of topics for tidiness and convenience sake, maintaining a lil order, and fixing lil problems along the way. Keep it up.
