i have an uncle who works in the plantation industry, came to Malaysia from India way back in 1957 even watch the late (sorry i don't know the title bestowed) Tunku Abdul Rahman shouted "Merdeka" in Merdeka Stadium.

His approaching his retirement now, unfortunately he still holds a Red IC togather with his wife. Although, his children all have Malaysian CitizenShip. Can you imagine when he retires, both parents will be deported and what about the children???

Malaysian immigration laws are pretty funny.

just curious what can he do at the moment??

My advice is go to IC dept and check what they can do about it. Bring some prove that they were in Malaysia before 1957. Ask your uncle also if he has the citizenship card. and also bring their children along...then it will be much easier to apply for malaysian citizen ship

This is good timing. Go and see those contestants in the MIC or semi himself. With the coming party elections and everyone clamouring to do more for Indians than the other fellow...this will make a good test case.
Good luck to your uncle, aurora.

My DUDE friend.
I was speaking to an Indonesian migrant. She was selling nasi lemak somewhere in USJ. I just casually talked to her.
I said "wah banyaknya wang". I asked her if she is from Indonesia and she said yes. I asked her if she is married to a local. and she said yes. I asked her if it was easy to be Malaysian and she said it's easy. I told her one of my classmates is an Indonesian and since 1976 till now, he has not gotten his Malaysian citicenship!!!!! I told her the hassle my friend had to go through! I told her my friend is a "CLEAN" and "OBEYS THE LAW" type of people. then, she told me, "AIYA, kalau macam tu, susah nak dapat sitizenship"

!!!

can you imagine me hearing all of these from an Indonesian ?????
