No matter how excellent this movie and cinematography is, or how 'real' and convincing the dialogue is or how fine Tom Hanks acts, if someone is a believer, his/her faith would not be easily swayed in just two hours of movie watching. That's what I believe.

Days from now, May 18th..the Da Vinci Code movie will be shown on local cinemas but I believe it would receive mixed reactions from many..if it hasn't already, in this forum.

So, who's going to watch it? And who isn't? Care to share?

Thank you.

The movie was based on a novel of the same title by the author Dan Brown, released last year. It has sold many copies.

ps: I'll be watching it. :)

I'll be watching it. And its true what you said mon, if anyone's that in what they believe is not strong then it could easily be swayed.

Dan Brown is a very good writer. I believe many might actually get convinced with the movie of what will be shown.

I'm a Catholic and have read the book a few times and love it till the last juice. And yes, I'm not gonna miss the movie. And as far as I am concerned, it's just a novel and is being brought to the silver screen for the lazier folks who don't enjoy a book. And that is that.

I also hope Hollywood would a make movie on Angels and Demons. I think that's a better story.

Cheers

they should have at least put a notice that this is fiction at the start of the movie...a christian or a catholic should be put to shame as they know this guy is mocking christianity and should not support by watching it...just imagine you are in heaven what are you going to say to God...erm i just watching for fun....its a great movie..gesh!

I watched the movie.

It's a bit long, but I must say that it is a very watchable movie.

I give it a B+ grade.

Finally. Watched the movie. I think it was quite good, dramatic, good dialogues between the actors and entertaining.

However, Mr. Dan Brown is really capable of passing fiction for fact because for many who are not strong in their christian faith or do not know them well enough, I think they could be weakened by some of his theories. He claims that Jesus’ true intentions were to leave the Church under the care of Mary Magdalene (his wife), with whom he had a child with. And another unimaginable theory is that the authors of the Gospels wrote to conspire against Mary Magdalene?

I think all these claims and theories and doubts will continue, for a long time to come. Nothing anyone can do about it. Christians should stand true to their belief, that Jesus is the Son of God and not just a mere man. And let everyone decide for themselves if they choose to believe otherwise.

For the movie alone, I would say it was simply entertaining. Ian Mckellen (Leigh Teabing and Gandalf in LOTR) is an interesting character in the movie. Audrey Tautou (Sophie Neveu) is truly beautiful. Tom Hanks (Robert Langdon) is pretty much the same as in his other movies. He's ok. Still one of my favourite actors. :)

Sigh..have not even touched the book. That's precisely what most people are saying and have concluded, that the book is the better choice for someone who wants to truly grasp the what Dan Brown's theories and claims and the alike.

ur welcomed! :)

well..from my frenz view..it was suspenseful...wif a slight twist in the ending..the characters are not developed very much on screen..the chemistry between the leading actor n actress r great..the storyline pretty basic..wif some effects and some scenes straight out of the book..but some terms are not clearly defined for the viewers who are not acquainted to conspiracy theories..being Holy Grail, Opus Dei, Prioty of Scion, Knights of Templar, Vatican, Pagan and etc. which made the show less enjoyable..there are also some flashbacks on the theories..cinematically nice to watch..wif a few moments of suspense..

overall, my fren would recommend it 3.5/5. Mayb searches on these few 'conspiracy theories' or terms beforehand will help improve the cinematic experiences. :)

An entertaining show not to be missed!

Met up with my dad yesterday. He was kinda unhappy about the the part where they said Jesus was just a man... Jesus is a God, he said. As for me, I kinda disagree on Jesus and Mary being a couple and having an heir. An indication of pre-marital sex??

As far as I know, Jesus said He was the Son of Man and Son of God (& still is..). He is 100% Man and 100% God when He was on earth ... :)

Now of course He is the Son of God... Amen..

mon

Amen. A very good positive thing despite having such a big hooha about this movie is that, many people are standing 'truer' to their beliefs and reaching back and out to God in faith. God truly works in the most mysterious ways.

My hubby actually discourage me to watch even it's just a novel or fiction as he said our mind will believe what we don't know as true even if it is not true.

PeterHng
26-05-2006, 06:49 PM
Actually what ur hubby said was true you know. There was an interview going on in the US. They asked the viewers after the show what they think of the show and the stories. Seemed that majority of them believed what the film, even though fiction, was trying to convey no matter how errorneous (sorry for the spelling) it was...

mon
26-05-2006, 08:29 PM
Just my 1 cent on this. I think people who are confused should read the bible yes, to clear any misconception. For me, it's just fiction and the book a novel. A fiction novel? Hence it's never gonna be regarded as a new approach to Christianity or some new theology etc..
Sometimes people just like to create some confusion and undermine the believers. And there are those who want to make quick bucks out of it and sigh...Christianity is just easy pickings for them.. but there is historical evidence of Christianity and the undying faith of many strong believers. The Bible is provable, historically and archaeologically.

jianwei85
26-05-2006, 08:54 PM
The point is this book is controversial..it wants to make people think more..so if there are more ppl who are not sure of the Bible..head to ur pastor.. :D n not sure of the book, read more bout the conspiracy on Jesus on the net lo..then u'll able 2 separate fact from fiction..

The movie is ok nice..LAh.

The acting is fine with Tom Hanks.
Flow of movie is ok also. .i guess..Story development is nice also.
Some shocking scenes with how the assinate guy self abuse himself..And betrayal...The mysteries are nice ..Haha..Actually Dan Brown combined few conspiracy theory in one book and finally into this movie!..Ho ho..
Jeno acting not good lah as the detective not fully utilized.

Can see lah , with all the hyper around it..The ending is touching also , almost 2 thousands years secret resting there! And only those with what?good heart , pure heart will find the Holy Grail thigie? Which of course is tom hanks ..haha

Please excuse me but my opinion is that it is pure lack of maturity in thinking that if someone having seen the movie would put doubts in one's religious believes.

It is not unlike the perception that religious people should not go to Harry Potter's movies because it glorifies witchcraft.

Conversely, there will be people who are afraid that having seen a movie on Christ would convert a person of a different faith to Christianity.

I wonder if any of you read in the media that the very churches that were used as locations in the story are having tourist programmes to explain the Bible to visitors and their sale of Bibles shot up the roof. I don't see any negative repurcussions in the Code. One just need to be able to find the positive instead of being fearful of the negative.

Yup. Somehow this Da Vinci code thing has the ability to make people think outside of what they have always been told. I guess it just boils down to the same old saying, believe what you want.. it's nobody else's business. Just think, really think, and keep an open mind.
