Nowadays these car robbers are so damn efficient ? 15 mins is fast.
Did you park at those dim areas ? Next time try to park near those busy shops.
Car robbers don't use back the same car plate after the first day, and the police also don't give deadlines as to when your car will be retrieved.
Last time I thought my car was being stolen but turned out it was towed away. Did you park at a illegal place ? Check with MPSJ tow company in SS15.
My car was towed there last time.

Once these professional crooks have marked your car, 15mins. is all it takes. I think your car is on the "wanted" list. I remember it being reported that the vehicle will be immediately containerised and shipped overseas, sometimes through Singapore. :o
Sorry to hear your misfortune. Report and claim insurance, and next time, perhaps buy a good but a less popular model.
Take care.

Damn car got stolen at approx. 2.30pm today. It was locked , pillar & steering locked at Jalan USJ10/1F - same bloody place where they stole my freaking laptop... and the keys are still with me.... will now keep that as a bloody souvenir!
By the way, today's a Sunday and why would MPSJ wanna tow it. I ALWAYS park in a proper parking lot - not like some others... mebbe now I know why people double park...
Police oso said they will look for the car.... ya right! I'd be damn if they find the car within 24 hours... Only time they will look for the car is if the thieves crash it into the freaking BALAI.... or use it in a freaking bank robbery... now why would the stupid thieves use a 1.3 mini MPV for a bank robbery...
I CURSE THEM BASTARDS...
Honestly... I seriously have doubts about living in USJ anymore... Everywhere you see and hear about is about crime in USJ - people getting shot in playground, snatch thieves, robbery and rapes.. what next... the more we do to keep the place safe - Neighbourhood watch / Private Security Guards / RT - the less the police do their jobs and the more these bastards come looking for opportunities...
I am so F****NG ANGRY

Looks like your car has been stolen instead of being towed. You will be surprised that some tow people work on saturday night. I found that out the hard way in Jalan imbi last time.

If you left house key or anything important that might give those thives a chance to your personnel access - eg internet banking, bank acc number, any mails , credit cards, then you better inform the relevant banking parties. Those thives might find this a bonus on top of your car.
I'm sorry to hear what had happen. I feel pretty sad to know Subang USJ area is turning to a crime infested party area for this thugs. And i agree that Police ain't really helping. With us being powerless and isolated, God please help us.....

If your car is really stolen then you better pray that it is not found. Or worse it has been used in a crime. Then it becomes "evidence" and cannot be released by the police till the case is settled. So your car sits in the police yard, you cannot claim insurance, get the picture. :(

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about your Avanza being stolen.
Let me share this with you... its not because it happened in Taipan, actually its everywhere. And since you have good contacts within Toyota, ask them, whether its true that about a dozen Toyota is stolen everyday? everywhere?
My wife's 4-month old Altis was stolen back in 2002 right in front of my very eyes... it was in the open car park in front of Parkson at Subang Parade. I went in to change a shirt my wifey bought for me from XXL to XL and as I was stepping out, I saw the Altis being reversed and driven away. I gave chase on foot knowing there was a barrier round the corner but a second car (a Satria) horned at me and drove straight at me, I knew then it was an accomplice and I had to give up the chase.
There is an issue with MADE / ASSEMBLED IN THAILAND Toyotas. Seriously, I am sure the folks in UMW Toyota knows this but they're keeping mum. Re-visit the UMW Toyota Stinks" thread and you will see the insinuation in there!

Sentinel: You're spot on dude. Just last week my mum told me her friend's Hilux got stolen in Sri Petaling. The car was parked INSIDE the house compound. The thieves managed to disable the auto gate to get to the car. Seems like an easy task to them these days :(
When her friend wen to the police station to make a report, the policemen told her that ~8 similar cases were reported on the day itself. Semuanye TOYOTA; semuanye same model.
It's like the days of Toyota Harrier all over again. That's why Carrefour has special parking for these cars :(
Sorry to hear about your loss Resident. Thank God you and family are ok. Take good care.

UMW Toyota must come clean on this and tell the car-buying public the truth. Police too must be open about this. I heard that the expat management team at TESCO lost ALL their Prados in the last few years! Yes, ALL of their Prados!
There is a corelation between car thefts and Toyotas made in Thailand and UMW Toyota MUST come clean on this and tell the public the truth!
When I went to the Subang Jaya police station in 2002 to report the theft of my wife's Altis, the constable on-duty told me my car was the 6th stolen on that day itself. That was just Subang Jaya my friends! And that was 4 years ago! UMW Toyota must explain this strange phenomenon!

sorry to hear about your car.
Nothing to do with usj, these guys drive around looking for target models.
I saw there was a short article in a chinese news paper few days ago, I think Sin Chew Poh or Nanyang Siang Pau that showed how they steal Avanza. Maybe someone can tell us what is was about. It seems the avanza is a hot car now.Upgrading the alarm may be a good idea. Not sure what else one needs to do to prevent the theft. Thiefs are not scared at all of the police etc.

perhaps the vehicle gps system used in various countries where the gadget attached on the vehicles help the authorities to spot wherever the vehicle is whenever it's needed.
tracking down a vehicle is so simple however, the dis-tracked skills by the theives would be another topic we should look into.
anyone who come across with such gps used in vehicle can tell us more & i'll be the first to go for it IF it's really useful.
usj27, try to recall if it's there any useful docs/items which will lead those bast**** to you & make more loses. do whatever it can to stop them. chill, & i know how tough it was, i lost something too.

usj27resident, what can I say ? It is a traumatising event and such a lot of unnecessary hassles.
Why anyone wants an Avanza you may ask - I bet you there is a list of cars on the wanted list in the dealer shops in Batam Island. I heard from our friends that they had seen cars with Malaysian number plates sand-blasted on the windscreens being driven around with Indonesian number plates over there.
It could happen to anyone of us and really, at the end of it, we hope you get the full insurance claim to cover the loss.

Last time I thought my car was being stolen but turned out it was towed away. Did you park at a illegal place ? Check with MPSJ tow company in SS15.
My car was towed there last time.
When USJResident27 called me immeditely when he found his Avanza stolen, I asked him if he has parked it somewhere else and mistakenly thought it was stolen. He confirmed it as stolen as he was very sure where he parked. Then I was like pucman thinking that it could have been towed away. But no, MPSJ has sms me that the towing of vehicles for illegal parking will only be re introduced on 15th May. So I told him to call the USJ 8 police station without further delay while he would have to finally go there in person. I forgot to offer him some help since he was without a car to get there. I was at that time feeling groggy after that Kuala Selangor incident where I only got to sleep at around 4.30am. Sorry to hear about your loss and also apologise for not offering any assistance then. We will look out for the car for you.

USJ27, very sorry to know these are happening to you.
Perhaps 1 point for those who owns "hot list" car, do upgrade your car security system. Reason, most car comes with standard factory alarm system, meaning, wiring to your immobilizer, location etc are the same for the same model. All he needs to know is where to bypass and to start based on the wires color code and it's gone in 2 minutes! Steerling lock, just cut it off. An additional lock for the engine trunk door would greatly delay them for a couple of minutes. Same goes too an additional immobilizer. When they find it's too troublesome, they would just abandon it. There are also availbility of siren running on their own battery. Meaning any disconnection from the main battery, siren would trigger.
Just to recaps, standard car would comes with standard security system, standard wiring scheme and standard arrangement and it's not too difficult to master it.

Just to post a thought here, for those who uses the steering/pillar/clutch lock, do you guys put the stering back to neutral (straight in the middle) or position the steering at an angle?
Think of this, if the tyre is at the middle position this would enable a tow truck to just tow the car away easily however if it is at an angle the car would be harder to be towed because the towed car would constantly sway to the direction where the steering is positioned (provided the tow trucker doesn't use the additional side tires to carry the car off, even if it does it is additional time wasted which is not conducive for the thieves anyway).

well... even the front wheel is not align straight in the middle, the tow truck always can just tow the front, leaving the front hanging in the air and tow it away using the back wheels.

Just got back from the insurance office... and they were pretty helpful and pleasant. But the 'downside' is to know that it is gonna be anything from 4-6 months before they can release my claim.

Don't move because of this incident. Penang may not be safe anymore too. USJ/puchong folks still welcome you.
I have been driving for many years (>10 years) and my car has never been stolen. Maybe my car is not that expensive. :(
Don't rely on police, if they were as efficient as singapore , the crime rate won't be so high.

Only can learn from this lesson and move on... :(
For you fellas out there, buy a good, expensive steering lock ( and even a steel chain and padlock! :p - never know!! additional deterrent ) change the ignition keys, and install a tracking/immobiliser system. Believe me - in the long run, it would be better than waiting for the insurance and the bloody inconvenience... by the way, even the insurance fellas would cheat you if you are the soft type... that, another story altogether...

Err...it would probably take the freaking car thieves about 1/2 hour to drill thru the ignition key hole to disable the original steering locking mechanism...n start the engine without the ignition key...
It would probably take also within that 1/2 hour to drill thru the additional steering lock mechanism(after market device)...
Ahem...Orchi is guessing that the freaking thief who stole USJ27Resident's punya Avanza...would likely have saw thru the steering column to render the additional steering lock to be useless in this case...n drill the ignition key hole...to disable the original steering locking mechanism...n get the car engine started without the iginition key...
BUT what the freak is puzzling Orchi...remains in this question...
How the heck the freaking thief went about his dirty business...being unnoticed...in broad daylight...on the busiest street in Taipan!...???
Err...having said that...the freaking car thief must have been bold enough...to have 1 or more accomplices...standing beside the car...pretending that he was the owner...having lost the set of car keys to the car...while the freaking thief...went about his dirty business...to unlock the all the locking mechanism...n drive away with the car...without raising any suspicions from the rest of the crowd nearby...
any recommendation on those locks?i yet to buy any steering/padel or security etcetc locks for myvi..as i always heard thiefs can cut this cut tht.. aihh...
The best I believe, are the brake locks or accelerator locks. Because for the reason that the metal used for the pedals are the strongest and hardest to cut.

To make Bad Luck go away...
At night time light a small fire in a cauldron or what ever you have available to contain the fire. Write on a piece of paper that is 3 inches x 3 inches, the words BAD LUCK. Then write down any bad things you do not like in your life right now. Then draw a big X across the paper with a black marker. While doing this you should be thinking of how all these things are going to disappear from your life, never to return! Place the paper in the fire and repeat the following words 3 times...
"Fire, fire burning bright
turn my darkness into light!
Take away my bad luck ill,
bring me nothing but goodwill.
Bad luck came and stayed to long,
be gone forever, be gone, be gone!
With this fire burning bright,
bring me good luck, bring me light!"
"SO MOTE IT BE!"
After repeating these words 3 times, sit for a few minutes and concentrate on the bad luck being gone and the good luck coming your way! When you are done extinguish the fire.

Err...in the mid 90s...only Pajeros were required to stop for security checks(at the midway guard house)...while on the way UP to Genting Highlands Resort...
The private security Police would ask ALL the Pajero drivers to register their personal details at the midway guard house...
So then on the way back from the Resort...ALL Pajeros would need to stop at the same guard house...to allow the guards to check thru with the same details taken before...if everything was fine...then they would let the Pajeros to go pass the guard house...
But much later that became history...when they introduced the 1st generation Honda CRVs...
Ahem...all hell broke loose...when upto an average of 20 CRVs could be stolen in a day...in Kuala Lumpur areas alone...!!!
Then the same thing would happen to mostly 4x4 SUVs such as the Toyota Hiluxs...Toyota Landcruisers...Ford Rangers...Mitsubishi Storms...(except for Toyota Unsers...n of late the Avanza n Innova...which are basically MPVs)...Toyota Harriers...n again lately Toyota Hiluxs...Toyota Frontier...n so forth...
Err...now comes this valuable tip from Orchi's own personal experience...which is being...so far so good...so to speak...:)
1. Change ALL the standard doors/ignition/steering locks...to them imported european make ones...n add an additional steering lock.
2. Upgrade the existing alarm system to include 1st class motion detector...shock detector...immobilizer...n etc etc.
3. Get a reliable automobile electrician(wireman)...to install n HIDE at least 1 cut off switch to the vehicle ignition cables...(ALL Orchi's punya vehicles has one more additional cut off switch...sorry for not telling openly here):)

I know it is no consolation to USJ27 but these days crime is rampant everywhere! More preventive actions must be adopted by the authorities! Sometimes we can be out the whole day anywhere, not just USJ or SJ, and you dont even see one cop or cop car on patrol! Like that how? Short of forming a vigilante force to fight these buggers, what else can we do??? Everywhere people are so fearfull and the authorities still dont seem to be aware or just tidak apa. Pa Lah must start kicking butts now!
And it is not just crime, everything seems to be going haywire!! Traffic offences, public transport offences, local government...you name it! Just last Friday, I tried to drop my mom in law off at the Tmn Aman LRT station to take a cab to Sentul. She must have approached about 10 taxis and all refused to take her! What kind of system do we have here. Traffic flouters, criminals just dont seem to be concerned about the authorities! That is frightening!

>>just my two cents......what about setting up a Rakan Cop Subang Jaya....with our own specific numbers to contact and probably have an access to CID departments and so on....most improtant is the quick and effective respond and help...

need to ask your expertise on lock,
the locks on both brake n accelerator issit the one sold in carre4?..it can locks both pedals or the other types?...
opss.. sorry to post here.. pm error when trying to send
The best I believe, are the brake locks or accelerator locks. Because for the reason that the metal used for the pedals are the strongest and hardest to cut.

Hey. Logically, if you could find one that locks both, even better. More to cut. But I have yet to see that one around. Tho I believe in it, I do not own one myself as my car is an old junk and no one would wanna take a second look. Yes, you could check it out at Carrefour. :)

How about something more viable, electric shock? Activate via GSM, could be a sms or a call to trigger. Hehe
Sometimes just a sticker "This Car is Monitored by xyz GPS System" would some how helps. It's like playing a poker game, whether it's a bluff or not, let the thief decide! Pretty stressful to them! Stickers are easily available nowadays and just simply come out with a company name, such as "Ah Beng GPS System", and wow.......it makes them wonder! wondering what kind of wiring system would it be. And make sure it's visible all all corners, just to make sure that they would not miss it !
Just my opinion as a car owner;
There r few simple steps to look at;
1. When u send your car for washing, do not past the key to them. They can
duplicate every single keys that u gave in short time
2. When u intend to upgarde the ICE system or the Alarm system, make sure
that u r there to observed, hold on to your keys, and if possible send to
those reliable shops. I would recommend CAPTOR for secure reason.
3. When u buy the steering locks (good ones), make sure buy them from the
hypermarket like Carrefour, Giant or Jusco. Don't buy them from those
Ah-seng or Ah-beng shops. They might have duplicate spare keys with
them.
4. Always send back to authorised service center for service or major repair.
5. New cars I would recommend to change the immobiliser and alarm system
completely. Better to buy without them so that u could save some $$$ for
better ones. Add in steering lock and peddle lock.
6. New cars, if possible...modify a lil bit the exterior outlook like change the
rims, remove the emblem, add in some stickers, not to forget to sandblast
the car # on windscreen. Reason:- these buggers prefers standard cars
rather than modify ones. Check out with your insurance people. they
might have those details.
Good Luck. :D

Wouldnt Steering wheels locks. They can be removed within 30 seconds.
Go for pedal locks.
A friend of mine takes the trouble to disconnect some electrical part when parking his car at perceived unsafe spots. When those #*#%@ thieves cant start your car, most likely they will abandon their plan. Food for thought. Those days I had a friend who removes the rotor blade from the distributor cab and takes it with him!
Anyway for the rest of you, please lah when you buy a new or used car with alarm, change the PIN lah! Dont leave the PIN as factory set then the thieves can easily disable the alarm. Also, when sending your car to workshops, even the authorised ones, remember to disable the alarm so that you dont leave the alarm control unit with your car keys. That way, you also prevent the duplication of your alarm signals. And if you have a car sticker to indicate where you stay or work, remove that when your car goes into the workshop. DONT allow potential thieves to know where your car is kept!
Just want to share some of the preventive actions I adopt most of the time.
Rgds.

Err...Orchi stumbled onto this...latest statistics on the numbers of stolen vehicles in Malaysia....shocking!

Vehicles Stolen in Malaysia
September 25, 2005 at 2:26 pm · Filed under Cars, Local News
Statistics have shown that in the first six months this year alone, 35,888 vehicles were stolen, leading to RM357 million ringgit in losses.
The number is broken down to motorcycles - 26096 cases, cars - 4756 cases, and vans/lorries - 3036 cases.
Vehicle theft contributes 45% - almost half of the countries overall crime index for the first half of this year. This was an increase from 41% for last year.
On average, it takes a carjacker 3 minutes to steal your car, and within the next half an hour it could be already stripped and sold for spare parts or shipped out of the country as far as South Africa.
A stolen car is driven to a warehouse where it is sprayed a new layer of paint, and chassis and registration numbers are altered if it is decided to be shipped out of the country to be sold. Vehicles stolen near the borders like Johor are usually driven out of the country immediately after the preparation and efforts by the police to recover the vehicles are unsuccessful due to lack of cooperation by the neighbouring countries.

Update:
Just walk into any second hand dealership in Batam, Indonesia and you can find Proton Perdana V6 or Proton Wajas sold for half the price. A Perdana V6 can be bought for about RM31,500 and a Waja 1.6 (A) for RM27,000. The cars can also be rented for about RM100 a day.
A local mechanic Attan, 30 revealed the situation. He said many of the cars in Batam were smuggled ones. “I do not have many customers with Proton cars, which tend to break down easily, especially on our roads which are full of potholes.” Ouch. I suppose Proton bashers would love that statement.

Hate to say this but this neighbourhood is really getting unsafe.
