I am thinking of starting an inspiration thread here. Your posts need not be quotations taken from the intelligent, rich and famous. They need not be brain shattering and earth shaking. In fact, most of the best inspirational (by this, it means inspirational to us, ordinary people, not inspirational to Albert Einstein) are from the ordinary people we meet. Your posts can even be humorous and witty. Your posts can even be taken from bits and pieces of a song or a movie. As for me, my father and mother provided me with some of the best inspirational thoughts.

Please give your views. If you are in favour, please start posting. If you are not, well, then, this thread will die its natural death.

:)

Celine: Why?
Jesse: So that you might come to a reading in Paris and I could walk up to you and ask, "Where the heck were you?"

Jesse: I'm serious. I think I wrote it, in a way, to try to find you.

I read this article in a Singaporean magazine called 8 Days and I thought it was really funny. It is called an anthropological look at nightlife kill-joys of common local bar trolls.

Bug from the Block

A victim of both an identity crisis and a visual handicap. Bug from USJ looks in the mirror and sees not a nice Malaysian boy from UEP Subang Jaya, but an African-American gangsta from the Bronx. Bug is also cursed with the inability to judge size and proportion, so he unwittingly buys clothes four sizes too big for his Asian frame. The poor thing hides his shame by pulling his baseball cap over his eyes.

The Faked Lesbian

The Fake Lesbian is a deceptively hazardous species of Bar Troll. They can be found in pairs on dodgy dance floors, performing a pornographic mating call to each other. They fondle, they gyrate, they even exchange spit sometimes. But if you ask them if they're gay, they will get their boyfriends to beat you up. They're commonly thought to suffer from a disorder known as hoochiemama-titis.

Hope you all enjoy that. :)

dear janelim,

me either, not a big family, :D but they want different variety from kids, to adult, to old folk.

kids eat colorful meal & dishes, adult want variety , old folk want something softer , so i only cook very small portion but variety in small for kitten or dog portion .

visitor goes to restaurant, in regard to big or small.

but i keep everthing simple and tidy.... kids only play with toys, watch tv, make a mess, old folk could have drop my porceline bowl (she want porceline bowl instead of wood or plastic) - change everyday. husband would be watching tv while surfing net with a bowl of fruit or chocolate beside him

Kwchang. The intriguing point to ponder is that if you have met your wife (she wasn't your wife then) earlier or later, then she would not have been your wife and you may have married somebody else or remain unmarried. I always find this fascinating and have been for a long time and it excited me further when I watched the movie, 2046. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be
shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind.
Think big anyway.
What you spend years building may
be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack if you help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have
and you might get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

To love and win is the best thing. To love and lose, the next best.
- William M. Thackeray

Love is patient; love is kind; it does not envy; it does not boast; it is not proud. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will pass away; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection, then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.
- I Corinthians, chapter 13

Everyone who goes to 2046 has the same intent
To recapture their lost memories
Because in 2046, nothing ever changes
Nobody can be sure that this is true
Because nobody who goes there ...

Because I do need to change.

Perfectionism

Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.
- Robert Schuller

Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Attitude quotes

Attitude determines altitude.
- unknown

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
- William Shakespeare

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.
- Charles Swindoll

A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart.
- Opening scene of "Faust"

You can't expect people to look eye to eye with you if you are looking down on them.

You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him.

Wisdom is humble that she knows no more.

Love is kind, and is not jealous,
Love does not brag and is not arrogant
Love does not act unbecomingly

Love does not seek its own
Love does not take into account a wrong suffered
Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness
Love rejoices with the truth

Wow woke up this morning giving thanks for all the electrical item in perfect working condition. :)
Remember to unplug electrical items if you need to go away from your house.
The freaking thunderstorms and lightnings these days in the afternoon are hazardous.
Friends told me last couple of days many items in their houses got fried. And i noticed this is very common in the USJ2, USJ3, USJ4 areas.
So give thanks if yours are not affected....which can costs you thousands of ringgit to replace them..gosh...

To believe is to know
that every day is a new beginning.
It is to trust that miracles happen,
and dreams really do come true.

To believe is to see angels dancing among the clouds,
to know the wonder of a stardust sky,
and the wisdom of the man in the moon.

To believe is to know the value of a nurturing heart,
the innocence of a child's eyes,
and the beauty of an aging hand;
for it is through their teachings we learn to love.

To believe is to find the strength and courage
that lies within us when it is time
to pick up the pieces and begin again.

To believe is to know we are not alone,
that life is a gift,
and this is our time to cherish it.

To believe is to know that wonderful surprises
are just waiting to happen,
and all our hopes and dreams
are within reach...
"If only we believe"

An angel was sent down from heaven one day
to visit a child who had nothing to say;
Now this young child was poor, great wealth she did lack,
but she always was happy in spite of the fact.
Until one day it happened — her best friend went away
and it left her heartbroken with nothing to say.

Now the task of the angel was a great one indeed,
to give hope to a heart that was so much in need.
And though great riches and power were at the angel's command,
he sent a lost kitten and the healing began.

The girl cheered the kitten as it tracked down a snail,
and she started to giggle when he chased his own tail.

Then without any warning the girl whose heart broke
found some reason for saying these words that she spoke —
"I love you little kitten ... I hope you will stay!
We will always be friends and together we’ll play."

Now the little girl was happy though she still remained poor,
for she had a new friend someone to care for.

You see riches and power are fine things indeed
but for a broken heart that is not what you need.
The angel was wise for he knew in the end
how to mend a broken heart with the touch of a friend.

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them ... that's their job.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. " An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them ...... at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away
