This is one remarkable film, based on a true story. A story of 8 siberian huskies left chained outside a research station when the humans pull out in a hurry before a stormy cold Antartic winter. It's heart wrenching when the subtitles keep count of how long the dogs have been on their own: 50 days ... 133 days ... 155 days ...the dogs are respected for their basic animal natures and truly, selfless love for one another.
The movie's most compelling moment is when Maya, the team leader, sacrifices her food for another, as she knows her time was coming up, after being bitten by a sea leopard. When there are closeups of a dog's face, absorbed in thought, anxiety or yearning, we aren't asked to believe anything we don't already know or believe about dogs. They think, worry and yearn, and they love, too.
Everyone, it doesn't matter if you own a dog or not. Do go watch it. This movie is about stuffs..that we humans lack..most of the times.
