Eeer, I guess the sarcastic smiley was that you mentioned a sixth division bar noodler like Clayderman in the same sentence as Chopin and Strauss....

Seriously Leewinnie. If you need more song/music varieties other than the norms, I'd suggest you go to Tower Records or to any cd shops where the sales persons would be too glad to help you out with a wider selection. Or google for them. It's so easy. Or go to Music & Lyrics. So many good song titles there. Both old and new. For classicals, look out for compilations. That is if you're not an ardent classical music listener but would like to start off with a miscellany of composers and contrasting kinds of instrumental music. Hope that helps.

Too sophisticated for me. I am a commoner and I am no philosopher. I say, bring on 2 Live Crew and Me So Horny songs and such likes.

There's a lot of good suggestions for classic music in this thread.

However, I donno if I'm alone, but I have difficulty listening to classic music from MP3 format. The degradation in quality compared with a good CD kinda destroys the experience.

I'm fine with MP3 for rock, house, soul and even progressive rock...but a piano concerto? Nope.

Agreed. Nothing beats listening to a live performance.

If you have a proper setup - pre and power amplifier, cd player, matching speakers and appropriate cables in an insulated room...........the experience is just like being there, in a live concert. All you need are some good quality pressed SACds :)

You're right. It's a wonderful experience for me to be in my car everyday. My little car has speakers both front and rear (got them cheap from a friend). Wanted to have what they call, a 'soundstage' that produces different power levels and frequencies. Have got myself a good amp too. Am now looking for a new sub to experience the lowest possible bass tones, (I enjoy listening to bass instruments) those that is sealed in a box.

Sigh......if I can do that with the scooter, it would be wonderful.

An active sub would be much better than a passive one. Being insulated, the car should sound much better than an open room.

Not necessarily.. Good sounding whether bass, mid or treble rely so much on room's acoustic treatment. From what I understand. For example.. there is a great difference between cemented walls mosaic floor and wooden walls wooden floor. If you have heard of these 2 diff types of acoustic rooms, you would agree with me.
In a car environment, the air space is limited. Bass wavelengths are limited too. Due to the confined space in the car. Therefore for me, a just nice bass would be good enough lor. Not too low and not too loud. Don't want to sound like some young punk's car blasting like dynamites.

You sure know how to appreciate your music. I believe there are many in the forum who are experts as well and perhaps would care to give their opinion as well.

Me, I just put a carpet on the floor and those 30 eggs tray on the walls as a damping device. Not exactly accoustic but it has to do for a kid like me who listen mainly to Putumayo kids and Raffi. :)
