Corrupted File!!!

Dear all,

I need help! I was doing some work in photoshop when my computer hanged. When i managed to start it up again, i am left with 1 corrupted .psd file and 1 .tmp file. I cant open both of them!! =( =( =(

for the psd file, the error message is "unexpected end of file"

what should i do?!?!?! *sob* HELP!!!

I presume that was the one and only file you have and there isn't another one saved elsewhere or under a different name.

if that file was not a new one and it had been sitting in your harddisk for some time AND if your WinXP had automatically set a restore point recently, then you could try to restore your PC to a previous date. If such a recent previous date occurs, make sure that date covers the time you had earlier worked on that file. If so, by restoring to that date, you should find the earlier file before you lost it. This does not recover all the work you had done after that restoration date but at least you do get back some material.

However, if there is no useable recovery date, I don't know the way to recover what you have lost.

I do know of a freeware on the net which you can download, install on your PC and run a recovery of lost files. Hopefully there will be a trace of the file that you lost. The software is known as PC Inspector Filerecovery. The website is at http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm
