The super-fit Nicol David succumbing to cramps in her semi-final match against Natalie Grinham in the Commonwealth games? And Natalie has not beaten Nicol before in the last 2 years.
Something is clearly not right with Nicol.
The faster she gets back to the Netherlands and resumes training under Liz Irving and her former physical conditioning coach, the better.
Hopefully the SRAM will take this as a very loud wake-up call.

as a top athletic myself (played football for Selangor Chinese), there is no substitute for fitness.
Without fitness, you will not be able to do all those fancy shot or those match winning shot.
In my opinion, she went on too long a leave and did not really train to get back into the world class level last year. This is so evident when you see her on tv, her muscle tone/shape is not as great as she was last year.
I hope she does something about this. Easiest is to get back to her previous physical conditioning coach.
Alternatively, she can replicate exactly what she did last year WITHOUT SHORTCUT.

Well, Nicol just lost in the bronze medal tie against New Zealand's Shelley Kitchen.
And one Commonwealth Games gold medal that Msia was banking on has gone bye-bye.
Yep, something is very wrong with Nicol. And it seems that psychologically her confidence has been badly affected. Looks like she has to get back to square one in terms of physical and mental conditioning. The sooner she goes back to training under Liz Irving, the better.
Why did the SRAM disrupt her training arrangements and regime? Is the country expecting too much of her, lacking as they have, genuine sports idols?

Btw, she is still training under Liz Irving. But in KL, not in Netherlands. So, you can imagine all the disruptions and commitments here which sidetracks her.
