View Full Version : Shanghai fried rice

cooked rice
fresh garden peas
carrots- cut into smallcubes
prawns- cut into small
char siew - cut into small
shallots and garlic
eggs- omellete and cut into cubes

Brown shallots and garlic- take out
Add in prawns, salt and pepper
Add in carrots- little water and simmer.
Add peas, char siew and fry all together - add light soy sauce to taste.
Add rice and lastly sprinkle eggs and browned shallots and garlic .
Garnish with parsely or shallots and garlic.

The loook of the recipe seems like a normal "Yong CHow Fried Rice" ..

So how will the shanghai fried rice taste like? :confused:

u sure not your mom that tries it? hehe .. :p is there any shanghainese out here to testify on tis recipe arh? or anyway, we can modify it .. i've read it over n over again, it does sound like a plain, normal "Yong CHow Fried Rice" hehe .. :confused: :rolleyes:

Well, maybe i was too young at that time to notice wats inside the fried rice ok? hmm.. y dont u take this reciepe and cook for me? and then bring a sample to let alex try since he can cook well.

Sori, i know i dun cook better than u guys .. but i can definitely taste it well .. since tis recipe is from you, would u care to cook it then i try it? :cool:

homecook fried rice somehow will still b diff from outside fried rice .. i'll know!! :p

another special way to cook fried rice is in a claypot and add "lap cheong" inside plus some chinese wine .. surely to smell good. ;)

fried eggs? "ho pau tan" or omelette (telur wrapping) :D Pattaya fried rice also good wat .... hehe .. u can ask your wife cook and we here won't even notice it .. and i promise i won't tell anybody .. hehe .. :p

ok, u cook shanghai fried rice .. stick to your recipe in here. Alex, am sure he is good enuff to come out something unique and tasty. Mr. Need Hair can also cook .. so maybe he'll also come out wif something new as well .. hehe .. firefly wants to fried eggs but suggested to him Pattaya Fried Rice!! :D

Errrmm .. if cherry is reading it , i dunno what she has in mind .. hehe .. since it's her idea for pot luck .. :rolleyes:

fried eggs to firefly is Put oil in pan, heat up then beat egg in bowl with a pinch of salt and pour into pan. remove when slightly brown. Other than that...:eek:

yeah, it is. Its the easy to make thats y. :)u can add cheese on it as well. Just spinkle it on top while the egg is in the pan. The fold it like a pancake and tuen it over.
