The story of "Neverwhere" is about london above and london below... where there are two different realities.... people from london below live in abandoned tube stations, sewers, etc.... and people from london above can't see them....
And some tube stations such as Earl's Court from london above have real implications on london below, there is an Earl and he has a court on the london underground... Overall very nice book, makes me want to explore those old tube stations but i think they wouldn't take too kindly to that.

The book I am currently engross with, "Blue Ocean Strategy" is indeed a delightful and satisfying read. What is Blue Ocean, you may ask.

According to the authors, a Blue Ocean is a market space that is created by identifying an unserved set of customers, then delivering to them a compelling new value proposition. It contrast against a Red Ocean, where the market is well defined and heavily populated by the competition.

Initially, one is left wondering if it is so easy, why doesn't everyone adopt this approach. McDonalds was used as an illustration of such a strategy. Once you reach near the end of the book, you will be left wondering if anyone is able to adopt this approach on a systematic basis.

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari is one of Robin Sharma's most successful books. It is being made into a motion picture due for release in 2007. Sharma is acting in it, as well.

This book centers around the character of Julian Mantle, a superstar lawyer who collapsed right in the middle of a packed coutroom.

It is a fable about a spiritual journey, littered with powerful life lessons that teach us how to embrace destiny, live life to the full and discover joy.

I would strongly recommend this great book to everyone. Especially to all the workoholics out there because there is more to life than the 6' x 8' cubicles you are holed into. Julian should know because he has been there before.

Read my book review here (http://mydailynuggets.blogspot.com/2006/07/monk-who-sold-his-ferrari.html).

Silver Sister by Lillian Ng
Published by Mandarin Australia
First runner-up for the 1993 Angus & Robertson Bookworld Prize

Tells the story of Ah Pah who was orphaned at 14 in the Chinese village of Lung Sun. She then joins the "sisterhood" of domestic servants and achieves financial independence unknown to most Chinese women of her time.

Its a poignant and heart-warming tale of her struggles in China, her survival in Japanese-occupied Singapore and ultimately to the freedom of present-day Australia.

I had just finished reading this book yesterday~~~~

A very funny, touching and sad at the same time ~~~ This story is told by John Grogan and it's about his life with Marley his dog. Marley is actually a very hyperactive dog, always gets into trouble that kind of dog but yet he is very loyal, and had been with the author and his family through thicks and thins~~~

I felt excited when i first read this book, i keep flipping back to the first page and the last page to look at Marley's pictures as i read the story~~~~ This is a true story you know ~~~~ Some scenarios of the story made me laugh too ~~~

But yesterday, on the way reading the last few chapters~~~ I cannot help myself crying while reading it .... Continue crying on and off for about half hour while thinking back of the story

Currently reading Stradivari's Genius : Five Violins, One Cello, and Three Centuries of Enduring Perfection. (http://www.amazon.com/Stradivaris-Genius-Centuries-Enduring-Perfection/dp/0375508481)

Read about Stradivari (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stradivarius)

"More than 250 years after his death, Stradivari's violins and cellos remain the best in the world." So writes Tony Faber.

His 600 or so surviving violins can cost millions of dollars each and up till today, scientists and violin makers have sought in desperation the secret to each of the master's hand crafted instrument, and what gives them their distinctive sound, but so far, none have come close to solving the mystery.

In this book, writer and researcher Tony Faber has chosen six Strads upon which to fasten a story of art, history, and science.

"Stradivari, said Paginini (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niccol%C3%B2_Paganini), 'used only wood from trees on which nightingales sang..' ~ Literary Review.

If this was true, I find it most enthralling and fascinating, that was what prompted me to buy this book, hoping to gain some insights into this genius violin maker and what makes his instruments so extraordinary and highly loved and sought after by so many in the world.

A book by my bedside now, going to re-read it soon, is "Evenings with Horowitz" written by David Dubal. It has the ugliest hand drawn pic of Horowitz on the cover but in real life, he was a handsome man and a fantastic pianist. More than just fantastic actually, he was the one and only one in a million! :P

The book is an account of details and mostly conversations between Horowitz and Dubal. Dubal had a special friendship with the Maestro which many envied, (not many ppl understood Horowitz and many fans camped outside his residence to catch a glimpse of him or to listen to him play) (I would do that if he were still alive :P), and anyway, in this book, Horowitz reveals the pains and the pleasures of a pianist's career and his admiration and love for the composers whose music he has played.

A very addictive book, very well narrated. Plus some insights to Horowitz's temperament and the woman in his life, Mrs. Horowitz.

As I'm on a break, I had the time to catch up on a book I've bought months ago, one that amused me at the author's hilarious ways in describing what classical music is all about in

Rock Me Amadeus (http://www.penguin.co.uk/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,9780718148348,00.html)

As a pop/rock addict, Seb hunter the author, is someone who would take on all kinda sounds in music till one day, he decided to go cold turkey on the pop/rock thingy to immerse himself in a discovery on what classical music (mozart or bach who the daddy baroque guy?) is made up to be, and for that couple of years, he investigated, did extensive research in mind boggling bits and pieces of what's left by those famous composers and yup, he was totally bewildered and at the end, he got to the stage where he could not imagine his life without classical music. :P That is wonderful to read, having a rocker falling in love with classical music. If anyone ever wondered whether classical music is ???, wonder no further, just read this instead.

"It's time to try and love classical music too, even if it doesn't particularly want to love me back." Seb Hunter.

read this a couple of months back. i'm not muslim too, but it's a good read. really opens up one's eye on the different "interpretations" of the religion in different countries and cultures.

great

I had heard about this book a long time ago but i bought it finally after stumbling into it in Popular.

"Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus"

This book is very interesting and it really shows the areas n the little things that causes miscommunication btwn Men n Women n wat u can do about it.

 It's a good read n i think it is INTERESTING

Yea...not bad...i like this book too...read this book long time ago~...
