Hi all,
Me and my wifey need to held a small garden wedding reception for our friends and colleagues here in June... Majority of them all stay in PJ/SJ/Sunway area.

We are thinking of a simple garden reception for around 30 - 40 pax, Since we will do our chinese style reception back in our hometown, so we are thinking of having western buffet style here, which is easier to manage and mingle around with the guests. Our budget is around RM50++ per pax.

So far we have found a few venues but all of them are a bit far like Mont Kiara, Damansara, KL & etc... and we prefer some place which is nearer around PJ or Subang and we are unable to find any... :(

Anyone has any contacts or info for such venue?

Thanks in advance ;)

Check out Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel. It's a splendid place. Not sure if they organise garden weddings, but do check it out:

there's a bungalow at seksyen 12 shah alam, at the istana area, which caters for weddings. they loan mostly malay-styled wedding attires, but also provide ground rental for those who want to do a garden wedding/reception. forgot the name of that place. a 'pondok' something, i think.

from federal highway, take the 9 oclock at bulatan kayangan, the roundabout between tesco shah alam and concorde hotel . turn left at the first two junctions. it should be around there.

Alex, thanks... if you really want to come, I shall extend an invitation to you.. :D

we prefer not to have it in a hotel... as we both are hotelier :p Definately not Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel also... since we both work there :p We prefer some place that doesn't reminds us of our workplace :D

We both loved the settings of Kafe Ceylon Hill's garden... http://www.kafeceylonhill.com/ but it's a bit too far lar as it is in KL. We are both looking for something similiar like them.

I see. I believe you would get some staff discount and also shows your organisational commitment if you hold your big day there eh? Anyway, it's your call and all the best to you.

You can do a garden wedding at Carcosa I think. IOI resort has a courtyard which can hold a small reception.

Another place is Cyberview lodge...very nice place for a garden reception.

Haha... Carcosa would be the best choice, but unfortunately we doesn't has a wallet that fat... :p

We did found lots of nice venue for garden wedding... but the only problem is too far for us... we are hunting for a venue within PJ/SJ area. ;)

I know its far but its just a suggestion... All Suites Residences on the Park formerly known as Suitestay Executive Residences located near KLCC. You can visit their website at
http://suitestay.com.my/main.html. The poolside with garden setting is quite ok for dinner reception.

Sheeesh!... meaning our friend here wants a garden wedding venue but not with a hotel attached to the garden ?

Well, what about Taman Aman...(with lake/pond) PJ. He can also try the one near A&W PJ - I think its called Timor Pond (lake?) or better yet,the gardens behind Lake View Club (public side, near Holiday Villa) All of these places have the same settings...

The advantages are obvious but the disadvantages are... no privacy, toilet facilities, parking, etc etc...

No hotel in the vicinity ! :p Errr... if the ADUN can organise makan session there, anyone else shud be able to make a makan (dinner) reception there a success... just bear in mind to ask permission from the AJK NW17... :) :D :p

pssst! don't park the cars on the cement slabs covering the drains... after, kena marah by ... oppss.. me said too much...

I'm not sure about the name of the park near the Paramount LRT Station but I think its not as crowded as the other public parks. I guess the ambiance and the setting is more beautiful...

Taman Jaya next to Amcorp Mall is a scenic location. Maybe can cater the food from the uncle 'lok-lok' and pakcik rojak buah there, with roti ais krim as dessert.

Congrates to u!

Why not try Bukit Jalil Park? It is not very far from SJ/Sunway. Alternatively, u can try Bukit Jalil Golf Resort which is next to the Park. I m not sure if there is a garden but there r restaurants in there. ;)

Tropicana Golf and Country Club, food can be catered from their F&D outlets there, convenient & classy. Not that far away. Or KLGCC?

Oops, just realised he mentioned they found some venues in Damansara, KL, etc but too far. I guess Tropicana & KLGCC is out of the question then.

Ermm.. how about renting one of those famous VIP bungalows in an exclusive enclave in Shah Alam, since u are a fellow tax payer who helped paid for the bungalows, they shd give u preferential rates. :D

The Shah Alam lake gardens is a scenic area. Swans and all that. Sufficient parking, loads of wide open space, toilets nearby, and you probably can make as much noise as you want. Even has a restaurant by the lake, I think. There are also hotels not too far away if you are thinking of accomodation for your guests. I have no idea about getting permission to hold anything there and whether food brought in has to be halal or not, but it's worth a try.

I second Hyatt Subang. I had my wedding dinner there 3 years ago in the main ballroom and the service given was awesome. Might wanna check out if they have any package for pool-side functions.
