hi,

Would anyone know where I can purchase fresh rabbit meat for a stew? I'm looking for freshly cut up ones. I'm willing to consider the live ones too.

Thanks in advance.

GHorse. Is there a meat shortage in our country? I know rabbits are not endangered but I feel saddened by the fact that they are being hunted and eaten.

The way you asked for it..'freshly cut up ones..' makes me sick. What more live ones too.

These are farmed rabbit meat. I'm not looking for the wild kind.

I believe you're thinking of the cute bunny ears. Rabbit meat is less a delicacy and more of a choice of another meat for the table. Much like emu/ostrich/deer. And yes, we're simply avoiding chicken for now, if you must ask. Chickens are cute too but yet they are eatan everyday. Dont tell me you have not had Satay Arnab in Kajang!!!

Appreciate it if anyone can provide directions (NOT asking for opinions here) and an idea of price per kg :)

Am I being told that I cannot voice my views. And no, I've never had rabbit satay in Kajang.

BTW have you ever heard a rabbit scream right before it dies.

Rabbit farmers kill rabbits with clubs or toxic bats. And i would have to say they use rabbits for both fur and meat. If they are being bred for fur, I should imagine they would be killed the way they kill other fur animals, with a rod in the anus and a clamp on the tongue and electrocuted.

The methods of slaughter are no more humane, the rabbits are also killed by having their necks snapped or their skulls beaten before being strung up by their legs and having their heads cut off.

What sort of person could do that even once, much less all day long, just to make a few bucks. Is bird flu so bad in Malaysia and chicken so dangerous to eat (you don't eat them raw do you?) that there should be a rising need to eat rabbits?
It′s not that they are just cute and fluffy la GHorse, they all have their own personality and loving traits. Gentle little creatures, deserving of our care, love and respect.

May i suggest fish, beef or mutton. I don't see rabbit meat readily available in hypermarkets or wet markets. There isn't a lot of way to cook rabbits except a good stew. Seriously who wants stew everyday.

If you HAD TO ASK, YES! You're NOT ASKED FOR YOUR VIEW(S)!!!
READ MY POST(s) C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y (if indeed you can understand English); I'm asking for DIRECTIONS, not OPINIONS.

Goddarnit, you sound like a nutcase on a greenpeace mission  .
Get off the soapbox about animals being killed for their meat. These are farmed animals! Why is a rabbit be treated any differently than a cow or a chicken?!?!?!? Why because they have a cutesy look and they cannot be eaten?!?!? They all are livestock and all of them suffer when they are killed.

[BABY] You need to grow up to be an ADULT or swear to become a vegetarian the rest of your natural life. ;)

GHorse,
our house rules forbid any personal attacks. You have now gotten a banana (equivalent to a yellow card). If you remove some letters from the banana, you will see that becomes a "ban". I will ban members who continue to be abusive.

Anyway, we do accept the fact that some members do feel squeemish about certain things like eating rabbits for example. However, let me remind Baby that consumption of rabbit meat is not a barbaric thing to do. In the UK, they even sell slaughtered and skinned rabbit in the supermarkets. While it may sound terrible if you loved rabbits as pets but the fact is that rabbit is an accepted table meat.

People would baulk at horses, dogs and turtles being treated as food. But I can assure you even the French eat rabbits and horses.

The point I am making here is that people do eat rabbits. And if you were not enlightened, advanced countries even sell it in the supermart freezers - and you don't get a public outcry on that.

By the way, a skinned rabbit carcase reminds me of a cat. So I would be put off buying rabbit for food.

Ghorse, the quickest solution to your appetite would be to head on to Satay Kajang and ask those satay folks where they get their rabbit supply from.

Peace.
