Was just thinking a bit about the food fair we intend to organise for my surgery. I've already completed the NF Malaysia registration forms and about to submit them to the registrar.

And then while thinking a bit, I thought maybe a concert would be nice too. I have plenty of friends in the performing arts. I have friends in the choir, Young KL singers, instrumentalists, dancers...
And I loved the performing arts myself, too bad I can hear no longer.

But if there's one dream I could have, I would LOVE to sing, dance ballet and play music again.

So it would mean a lot to me to organise a concert instead, to raise funds for surgery. This can be done indoors at some auditoriums. We can have a choir, and then a broadway musical, and then a contemporay dance, and then a ballet performance, and the some music, ah.... the thought of it.

How does sound to you? Any input? By the way, indoors no need permit right?

A concert idea is nice. If you have a few celebreties pitching in like Harith Iskandar, chances are the concert will be a sell out. Perhaps you may even want to contact people like Faridah Merican or Joe Hasham and work with them using either Bangsar's Actors Studio or KL PAC as the venue. I am sure if you write to them they would be glad to explore it with you.

Sorry to disappoint you Yvonne but indoor or outdoor, so long as you are performing to public, you NEED a permit. But that should not be problem if you work with the right people.

Concert is a great idea..you need to get a committee organised coz there are operational as well as marketing/publicity issues to look at..

as for permit .. yes.. as long as you sell tickets .. they need to numbered and permit obtained.. i think taxable also.. .. some charities get around this by selling tickets on an invitational basis or "minimum" donation kind of thing..

downside to this is you can't get too aggressive with the marketing.. so depends on the number of tickets you target to sell and for how much..

venue and publicity will be main costs.. if you are able to get performers to support you.. so maybe try get sponsors.. colleges might be willing to let you use their auditoriums.. Wishing you Da Best :-)
