Problem with these type of satay is that they like to adopt the re-cycle concept. I know re-cycling is good for the environment but for satay........???? The one in Ipoh oldtown (Nescafe advert) and the one in Klang (behind old Cathay cinema) practise re-cycling. Not sure about the Melaka outlet.

You just indicate the type you want, i.e., chicken, pork n spare parts, no need to mention no of sticks........they just topped up your plates. Before you finish, unless you stopped them, they topped up again and again.

At the end of your meal, you pay for what they can count as the number of sticks and what you don't eat or rejected at the plates is re-heated and served to the next person!

But.......it still taste good though, especially if you are the first customer! :)

Don't mistaken Satay Celop with satay babi, the Sun May Hiong Satay is just normal satay, and they don't recycle their sauce.

Not referring to the sauce.......referring to the Satay itself!!!

No, no, not the bamboo sticks.

When I order the satays from either the Ipoh or Klang outlet, all I need to do is say "mixed" in the local lingo. I don't need to say the quantity.

The hawker will then bring a bundle and leave it on the plate. After 5 or 10 minutes, he will replenish it with more and do it continuosly until you ask him to stop.

He will then count the no of sticks you consumed and take the balance of the satays back. The balance he take back, he will probably serve to the next customer!

Recycling satay has been going on in Ipoh for a long long time....I remember abt 15 years ago, they are doing the same.

it's 'recycle' also in SMH. You don't order how many you want. You just sit down, and the boss/staff will tambah for u. When kira time, he'll simply count the sticks you have consumed. The rest of the 'untouched' satay, he'll bring back, and serve to the next customer.
same thing also with the satay celup in melaka.

Not to say that it happen but if we let our imagination run wild, the "untouched" might have dropped to the floor or where a fly has tasted it or worse still, someone with hepatitis took a bite and than decide don't want.

If it is a curry mee hawker, running out of curry, recycling the leftover curry from earlier servings, wouldn't we puke?!

Really can't understand why these type of satays, which taste excellent, can't be served based on quantity ordered - just like the Kajang type, instead of re-cycling.

Long time ago, my granddad used to operate a curry mee stall. One day, when he was about to close shop for the day, a guy came in to asked for a bowl. Despite explaining over and over again it's finished, the guy kept pestering my granddad to cook for him. So he said "ok, wait few minutes" and went to the back. Minutes later, he came out with a bowl of piping hot curry mee. No prize for guessing where that curry came from. :)

this satay babi ar.... We had plenty of it in Kuching. Almost every satay stall will have it, except those run by muslim lar...

When I first come over here... I was suprised that it is actually VERY difficult to find a satay babi here... probally bcos we have more muslim here compared to Kuching :p
Not only satay lar... pork product also are a bit limited to get in supermarket... or even wet market.
Still remember the first time went to Giant to buy a can of luncheon meat... looking up and down at the can section for almost 20 minutes... how come don't have one?? then lepak around then finally realise there's a special non-halal section... and need to pay for it on the spot also...
No such control in Kuching ler... :p

TEL. 06-2817281
50/50A, Jalan Kota Laksamana 1/1,
Taman Kota Laksamana,

This outlet is located on the same row as Kolej Ranger. You can see the Kolej Ranger signboard easily if you turn into Taman Kota Laksamana from Heeren Street (Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock). Take the left junction after the Heeren Inn/Hotel, or you can simply turn in at the lane next to Heeren Inn.
This is the shop operated by one of the relative of the original SMH stall in Jonker Street.

Another SMH outlet is just opposite Sek. Ren. Pay Teck. This is near to Masjid Kampung Hulu. It is only open from lunch till about 5pm.
