I like Auntie Juliet's outlet, it's near to McDonald's & facing main road. The reason being the greeneries outside the shop, and the decor which is cosy. The cendol is very nice.
The prices here are fair.

Aunti Juliet is a Nyonya from Melaka. Fyi, she has 9 children and they help out at her restaurant from time to time. You can see them at the restaurant in the afternoon, esp on weekend. I think it's nice to have 9 kids, as long as it's others. And nice to see them helping out their mom. The children are very well-trained to take orders and serve food in a professional manner.

In fact, for someone who loves children, I just enjoy lepak-king at this outlet in the hot afternoon on weekend, savouring my cendol and watching Auntie Juliet's adorable children serving the customers. Their age gap is close....so it's like a scene from The Sound of Music! One may thinks I am crazy to enjoy such simple thing in life, but I beg to differ.....this is some of the simple pleasure in life that I enjoy! Try it.....you may fall into my category too! :)

Auntie Juliet is a very strong and tough lady! She faced a tough time before she started this shop! If happen that u are there, read those paper article hang in the shop. Kokomo /Chermaine,

Any more gems in Kota Kemuning? Parking is so peaceful, compared with Taipan!

The only one I normally go to is the shop dedicated to fish ball noodles.

Seriously, if there is a good nyonya food wif reasonable price I won't hv to travel all the way down to Melaka for it ..

Now need to confirm tis is nyonya from south or north .. if nyonya from north , usually they hv tis ikan perut which is very nice .. n also their acar ..

Got nice otak-otak also ar?

Yes, I can vouch for that. The food is not bad, tho not the best, but the ambience is great. And yes the children... ;-)

Just look out for the shop with plenty of greens!

After I read both the mandarin and english newspaper articles in the shop how Auntie Juliet started this cafe with her children, make me want to go back again for food, nice environment, friendly peoples and most important give them SUPPORT!

kokomo

Chermaine
10-02-2006, 09:10 AM
Kokomo, sorry la my english is too terrible to tell such a long story leh!

The articles put me in tears. Auntie Juliet semangat *woooooo* she definately is a tough and strong mother! My respect!

Hmmm...let me try ar...

Once Auntie Juliet and family live in a big bunglow in Klang, drive luxury car! After the 4th child Auntie Juliet has stopped work with Agriculture Dept (if not mistaken) since the husband can support the family.

She gave birth to her last child in year 1997 and that was the year the husband faced the financial crisis. They started to sell cookies at Pasar Malam and market! First she started 1 stall, then with the childrens help they managed more stall. Slowly they into catering business for house ...........then the husband left her and childrens (so sad)......

kokomo
10-02-2006, 09:33 AM
Errr .. dun understand la! What's d reason the husband leave her n her children? Running away from debts? Or running away wif another woman?

Well, can put it like this .. auntie juliet manages business better than her husband .. so husband felt u know  .. man's ego .. that's why leave la ..

Can consider auntie juliet is fortunate also .. alwiz look at a half glass full ..

Chermaine
10-02-2006, 10:02 AM
dont know la....but a man run away and leave the family at that moment (9 childrens + wife)....NO MAN so dont' talk to me about EGO, NO EGO!

Go and try the food la, and if have time read the articles! :p

kokomo

Tried it this afternoon. Food, so far, tasted nothing remarkable but the environment has such a relaxing effect until secondary smoke chase one away. Perhaps that's why why they don't split the smoking and non-smoking section to prevent customers from lepaking there.

From the menu, couldn't find any beer or wine. Not sure whether BYO is allowed. With no beer or wine served, couldn't see any halal sign, but didn't see any pork served in the menu either. Plenty of variety and almost everyone should find something they like in the menu. The ice cream with hershey chocolate is basically vanilla ice-cream with brownie.

IMHO, in summary,

Food - 6.5
Prices - 6
Service - 8
Ambience - 9 (the smoke took 1 away!)
Parking - 10

And would I go back again - YES!

ya...went to auntie julie's shop many many months ago, before all the shops has started....we're planning to rent a shop there...end up decided not because of the quiet surrounding (at that time all the hotlink, japanese rest., hong leong, etc all not in yet)...but auntie julie alr there...at that time auntie julie's place is very quiet...and i'm shocked to see a kid passing me the menu (i dunno her story then, thanks chermaine)...and a lady brought me some magazines to read while waiting for my drink...very nice lady...might be auntie julie la...from that i can say she's pretty tough to wait while all the tenants still afraid to go in...good for her... :)

Now i know who to find if i can't take in anymore my homecook food! hehe .. :p

Was lepak-ing at Auntie Juliet's cafe this afternoon. What a nice way to chill out on a scorching hot noon at the cosy cafe!!

We had fried chicken wings for snack and they are tasty. Then for dessert, we each had a bowl of honeydew sago. It comes with shaved ice and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. As good as the chendol!!! Worth a try.

And again I met the little adorable children of Auntie Juliet!! I didn't know that she has such a sad past. It gives me more reasons to pop in often to support her outlet! A single mom with 9 kids - that's a huge task!! Will introduce her place to more of my friends coz I truly enjoy the cool ambience. Despite the hot air outside (I think it was 35 degrees out there today), her cafe is really cool. And I love having the green plants around. And the deco is certainly welcoming!
