fools01, congrat. to the father to b..

woh in cheras ah..... very hard woh, to travel to SJMC

a gynae - Dr Dilaila, very patient and will discuss with us more detail toward the way to care, take eat, sleep, rest, to do and not to do...

first few months every month visitation close to RM200, multivit. ,calsium, iron folic

during the eight week, we visit the doctor twice a month, multivit. , calsium

the ninth month would be need to visit every week... the prescription would be multivitamin and calsium ....

normal delivery RM2000 including a night stay at the hospital.

the doctor would need 15 min. to travel to d hospital n when i was in pain, all i ask 4 is doctor to get the baby out but nurse is very nice n caring.... i deliverered July 2004 n of course i want a FEMALE.... you could always check with the doctor in regard to the charges before you proceed, but i would say the doctor is important than travel time.

__________________________________________________ ___________________

10 years ago, delivered my first baby at Assunta hospital, the doctor suggest "Apidolla" (not sure whether the spelling is correct) a kind of injection to make the less pain.... end up vacuum and suck the baby head

4 years ago, delivered my second baby at Pantai Bangsar Hospital, the doctor is alright but got to wait long before being check by the doctor (monthly and weekly check)

2 years ago, delivered my third baby at SJMC, the doctor is good that I always feel she is just near to me rather than waiting until the time to deliver then only the doctor will show face..... ( also monthly and weekly check would take long time but i see many patient being transfer to this doctor- i chat with many patient)...

hope this help

Thanks for your sharing , leewinnie46

although i am from cheras, we have a second home in Taman desa, old klang road, hence our first preference was to pantai medical bangsar..
any good gynae's there?

I have heard of Dr Delaila's well spoken reputation..not to mention her charges..however we feel that the distance to the hospital could be unfavaroable to us. Nevertheless, we are still keeping this in mind if there are no other good ones out there. Someone has also recommended Dr Siti from SJMC.

anyone else care to share?

My experience with Delaila was awful. It was during my first pregnancy. Unfortunately, it did not end as any mothers ( and fathers, of course) would want it to, but her handling of the matter (when she delivered the news) leaves much to be desired. Also turned out that some info she gave regarding the condition I was in inaccurate.

Sorry to hear that, Alya.

I observed that some gynaes are only good at dispensing general advice whilst assuming the pregnancy goes smoothly.

When something goes wrong, all they say is it's out of anyone's control. True to some extent, but there ARE drugs that helps sustain a pregnancy. But one wouldn't get such treatment from gynaes that assumes everything is natural and dispenses generic advises to every couple on every visit, with no bones to prescribe the latest drugs, probably due to their own religious beliefs.

you must be referring to "epidural"... while epidural is a great blessing in prolonged and abnormal labors, it has been shown to be associated with an increased need for vacuum and forceps assistance... this is partly because maternal pushing efforts are less effective when the mother cannot feel what she is doing... everyone should aware of the risk before taking the epidural...

dr siti from sjmc is very popular and therefore the waiting is extremely long... her charges is much lower (not sure why) as normal check-up can be less than RM50 if no precription needed...

dr tang is apparently very good according to one of my doctor friend... she does consultation in both taman desa medicial centre and SJMC... she has lots of patience as she will listen and explain medical conditions in details... you can choose to do your normal check-up at tdmc and if possible, the delivery in sjmc as it is more well equiped...

congratulations for being a father-to-be... glad that you care so much to look for a good doctor for your wife... it's going to be a wonderful experience and please care and love her more during this period and help her as much as you can to make her comfortable throughout the pregnancy... cheers!

Another good doc is Dato' Dr. Menon at Assunta Hospital. Eventhough Assunta is an 'old' hospital as compared to SJMC, but I went there bcos of the doc. He explains situations in detail, very experienced, good and does the stitchings fast!

Everyone would have their own preferences…so the best thing to do is to walk up to few Medical Centers of your choice, speak to the doctor, and to which your wife feels comfortable with, choose it…

All the best!

Hi,

With the reason news of hospitals being sued for negligence during delivery, my wife and i are quite concern in choosing a gynae. Hence, the reason for me raising this topic.

Our three top choices will be SJMC, Sunway medical and Pantai medical.

Any other recommendations?

from personal experience.. agreed that a good and experienced gynae is important .. especially when there are complications.. my wife transferred as soon as we realised our gynae was not confident..
we were lucky that DatoMenon from assunta was available to take over.. he immediately puts his patients at ease... assunta may not look as posh as the others but what is more important is also the quality of the more experienced and caring nurses at assunta.

Congratulation Dad-to-be,

My brother-in-law use to work in HKL, when I delivered my 1st son at 40 years young he recommended Dr Baskaran at HKL. Yes need to wait long long hours but I was very confident with him. For my 2nd son (at 44 )I still continue to see him although my brother-in-law moved to SJMC.Cheaper for me to deliver in HKL 1st class ward both pregnancy was caesarian. The other doctor highly recommended is Dr Rachagan (not sure of spelling) in SJMC.I did go to him for second opinion can't afford to go everytime lah.

Congratulations....!
My sis in law just gave birth in pantai, bangsar 2 weeks ago.The bill for mother abt RM2200+ & baby is abt RM500+ for 3d/2n, normal delivery.
Pm me if u want the gynae's contact.
For me, just deliver my son in Sep 2004 in Assunta, Dr Liew.
I think in most normal delivery cases, the charge is abt RM2K++, provided u r not going 4 epidural !(pain relief)

Dear friends,

I'm just wondering, what would be the most appropriate way of driving if one is rushing to the hospital for wify to deliver baby.

Is it:
1. Driving with both hazard lights on? (I think hazard lights universally means vehicle on stationary mode)

2. Driving with car honking and light flashing at the same time?

3. Put a bumper sticker on "Rushing to Delivery Room, Out of the Way!"

4. Request PDRM for escort?

Speaking of Dr Menon, all my siblings, including myself, was delivered by Dr Menon. All Do ('79) Re ('80) Mi ('86) Fa ('93) was born in Assunta.

Both Do & Re was in nappies with ceiling fanned baby room, Mi was on nappies but airconditioned room. But Fa got pampers and aircon room!!! lol!!

As for my baby son, I'll take the nearer hospital least I get stuck in a traffic jam though it would be cool to have two generation delivered by the same Gynae ;)

Hi,

My wife and i went to Pantai bangsar, to see this doctor by the name of Dr Thomas ng, which was strongly recommended by my sister in law. Unfortunately this doc stop performing delivery and only does check up..

Will need to find another one. :(

Hi there! Am new in this forum.

Have just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant. Am very excited tho anxious about choosing a good o&b. Really like Pantai's facilities and am looking for a doc whose caring and patient and will explain things in detail (it's my first time :) ). Would prefer a male gynae as I've heard they are more sympathetic!

DV, which gynae did you and yr wife choose? And how's it been so far?

Anyone can comment on Pantai (Medical Centre @ Bangsar) facilities (classes, nurses, wards, etc) as well as recommend any docs? Would highly appreciate it!!

Congratulations Iamri , My wife and I felt overjoyed and excited too when the confirmed with us.

We went with Dr Rachagan, he came with strong recommendations. Not sure how true it is that male gynaes are gentler but I heard that they are gentler when it comes to the sewing part or c-section.
