Hi all,

I'd just moved in to USJ and for this CNY, looking for dried meat ... haha..last minute shopping.... anyone can shed some lights if there's Long Kee outlet in USJ / Subang Jaya area ? I'd only managed to find Brother Kiews (wo lai ye) and Wing Heong dried meat outlet....

Thanks.

Talking about this... which outlet has the best dried meat? I have tried Kiew Brothers for years and don't even dare to try others.

Talking about dried meat, I happened to pass by Bee Cheng Hiang's outlet in Taipan last nite. It is a very popular shop with a long queue of ppl buying. I joined in the queue and bought 1 600g pack (of minced dried meat or Bak Kua in hokkien) to try. It costs RM36 and the taste and texture of the meat is quite nice. The packaging is also very nicely done.

This shop is a corner shop located just next to Kayu Nasi Kandar and opposite to Bee's confectionery (near Herbs n Foods).

P/S: this type of meat is non-halal..

It's the season again. Which is your favourite? I had Kiew Bro's last 2 years. so far so good. Hate those with real 'strong oink' taste.

I prefered the 1 from SS19 restaurant.... they roast BA KUA theirself .... full with meat....no MSG ... No preservation... And the reason i like it the most is because the meat is not cut and not processed by machine... so when u bite it... it is like ......
......
......
......
Cant describe ar... I just Love it.....

I like the ones from Sin Wing Heong in SS2 (opposite the Eu Yan Sang shop) along the same row as the petrol kiosk / SS2 police station. Wifey likes the one from Kiew Brothers and so does her family members so its Kiew Brothers for me most CNY except those times where I buy Sin Wing Heong on my own for my own indulgence (with Gardenia White Bread... wow!).... for those F1 races and Motorcyle race telecasts. :D

But do remember that the bak kua that we are buying now for CNY has been cooked in the past 3-4 weeks yah.... yup! thats true especially Kiew Brothers' air-tight shrink-wrapped ones! So its a load of bullsh-t if they tell you got no preservative....

To be avoided if you're on a strict diet! One bite and you'll be hooked. Before you know it, you'll be having another bite, then another and yet one more, then another...hahahaha.

One man's meat is another's poison. If you do not eat the bak kua, you don't need to make others also do the same. The ingredients that go into making bak kua has been well-known for years and yet people buy them on CNY - its a strong tradition, just let the thing go on, no need to be a spoilsport.....

Hey, they are not coming for a big feast, just a visit so whats wrong with some traditional kuih bangkit, kuih kapit, peanut cookies, jam tarts etc? If you want kuih lapis, then order from a forumer here lah KitKat.... then have some Sarsi or Orange in ice.... MUST be from F&N lah....

This is the square type dried meat. Also very delicious. Will add inches to your waist if consumed in large quantities over a period of time, though, so do go easy on it, if you know what's good for you. :D

Not RM36.00 for 600gm. It was RM40.00 yesterday for 500gm!!!

Just bought 8 packets at this outlet in Taipan yesterday without realising it's cheaper for other brands. A relative bought the Wing Heong brand from Jalan Imbi yesterday for RM39.00 for 600gm pack. I think Bee Cheng Hiang's is the most expensive brand. Comparatively, the taste and texture of Wing Heong's is better for the slice meat type.

The best I've eaten so far is the Wing Heong's "honey bacon" but it is more expensive at RM54.00 for 600gm but still more worth it than the over-priced Bee Cheng Hiang's. No more buying from them anymore!

Hey Solacer, Bee Cheng Hiang has to pay for the expensive packaging and advertisements, mah! Remember, it was the sole sponsor of the Jack Neo's Singapore-made movie, "I Not Stupid"?

I just bought an OZonizer, put the pork inside and the foam began to overflow the big bowl of water like bubble bath. I am going to stay off pork for a while.
