What happened to Flamin J? Think they closed down and now some funky chinese kopitiam took over.
What is the secret to a successful restaurant in Taipan? The remaining ones and still standing strong

1) Restoran Hassan
2) The three food courts
3) Pizza Uno
4) Simon's
5) Las Carretas
6) La Chochina
7) LYG
8) Logenhaus
9) Thai Corner

Most recent casualty :
1) Just Pasta
2) Donburi
3) Khanom Jeen
4) The one next to Satay Hj Samuri

I still remember the Rest Nasi Padang. Now it is Focus Point at the corner in front of McDonald's. I would see them bringing in the furniture, renovating,
painting. From nothing till the opening ceremony. 4 weeks later, they closed down. Vicious la this Taipan.

But to all you guys out there still standing strong, keep it up. For future rest owners in Taipan, we don't want anything to fancy mancy like Khanom Jeen. Who would pay RM14.00 for a plate of green noodles?
Keep it simple, delicious and most importantly..cheap and we'll always keep coming.

If I am not mistaken, there is a notice at the shop saying that it has moved to Hartamas.

Went to Flamin J for dinner once, the place was deserted. Probably due to the rather high $$$$$ and the so called American size is nothing to shout about, neither is the taste. After all these years Logenhaus is still one of the best in Taipan.

Agree tjat Logenhaus is nice place to eat in.....mostly it isn't really that pack that you need to queue for sometime to get a place...food is nice, ice cream is nicer....price is reasonable............i would rate Logenhaus above Victoria Station..........

Personally I think FlamingJ's food are quite ok, u know. Some of you guys are right, the price is one of the main factor in it's demise. The other things I personally think would be the design. I would like to think it's quite weird everytime I go to the restaurant. It doesn't feel low end (fast food as in McDs) nor high end(vic). To me, the environment doesn't feel like inviting. maybe i am just wrong.

Environment is everything. Look at Logenhaus. Not really fancy chairs and tables but I still go there. Khanom Jeen, fancy chairs and tables, one time and one time only.
If the rest is too fancy, general public would think it is expensive. But an environment like Soo Kee or Rest Hassan, hey, come on in...........

I guess u r right man. looking too fancy will makes you think twice of going in. You will think it cost a lot so spend our hard earn money.

Better go to soo kee or other cheap looking but good food. hahaha..

Hi all,
A little blur here..... Where is Soo Kee and what do they have? Is it the Medan Imbi's Cantonese Fried Beef Noodles, of which the son has an outlet in USJ 9?

yeah...the owner of pizza uno was my former neighbour many years ago...used to be quite close to them but not anymore as i havent been in contact with them for quite some time..they started out quite simple but have been growing tremendously due to their splendid food and atmosphere..their prices last time were quite reasonable but now i think they have increased their prices..

I found Khanom Jeem's serving to be too small and price too high! Still remember the Chinese lady who brought us some Thai noodle (looks like putu mayam) and suggested that we have it with our small bowl of green curry. We thought it's on the house!!! Unfortunately, we were charged!!! Felt cheated.....lor!!

Love Thai Corner, I always head for it upon arrival from overseas! Ha ha ha...my family just know where I would go and what I would order - the usual pineapple fried rice, pandan chicken and tom yam.....same menu year in, year out! And I am still not tired of it. The service there is also good, that's why it can last so....so....so long!

well... i'm quite surprised people notice us missing from the scene too... hahaha i had to take some measures la to control what was going on. Simply put, we went to the wrong location la. The design of the place was also part of the so called demise. We had opened here in Hartamas with a fresh new design and glad to say we are doing quite good here. We even hold corporate functions here. Last one organised by the Tengku Puteri of Selangor also. Sorry I did not inform you guys of my moving but to those who enjoy our food, please come to Hartamas Shopping Center. To those who don't.... well.... nothing to lose too right? Cheers everyone and Happy CNY!
