Isn't this already discussed in the newspaper in Noivember or something like that. The NRD department denied the rumour about the huge fine, saying that it's only a hoax. They said that there will be a penalty, but only a small sum.

Baby RM10 can buy a lot, but 5 hours of queuing can also be used to do other beneficial things.

They hav actually been encouraging ppl to changed their IC to MyKad 2 yrs back .. I did mine early so I had no problem and in fact it only took me an hour to settle evrything .. :)

I guess if evryone does it early then lucky ones won't hv to pay even that RM10 lor ... ;)

You also think so huh..:D that was why i went home to sleep, cook lunch and also, went shopping and still had ample time to lepak around

For those who prefers to wait, better bring along newspapers or books to read or better still, a pillow! :D

Actually horh, I feel something has to be done about office hours. You see, the corporate, public service, and government sectors have the same office hours. So those working in offices can barely find time to visit the NRD office to renew their IC. The same happens to telekom, tenaga nasional, hospitals and etc. Those places are usually packed during lunch hours. The post office extends their services to 6pm (or is it 8?) which I think is good and accomodating.

No wonder every household needs an "accounts manager" who's able to carry out tasks such as paying bills and visiting teachers in school. LOL!!

That is why now telekom, tenaga, maxis and etc etc hv this flexibility for us to pay our bills online .. while surfing usj.com :D

No hassle to go thru jams in taipan / subang .. no more queing .. fast and convenient ... that's what I usually do when I don't hv the time to go there.

RM 10 is a small sum to pay and is more like a token punishment for the defaulter so far.

Err...those applicants below the age of 12...need NOT pay...

Multiple applicants...need NOT pay...?(not sure how that means)

Those changing to MyKAD at the age of 18...need NOT pay...?(not sure how that means)

Those that could prove that they were overseas prior to the end 2005 dateline...need NOT pay...

Those serving jail sentences...or those undergoing rehabilitations...need NOT pay...

900,000 malaysians are without MyKAD...out of 25 millions citizens?

Orchi tak percaya lah...perhaps 1 zero is missing...

I dont see this RM10 fine is a big deal to anyone. Some of Malaysian have the mind set of 'Tidak Apa Atitude'. Everything also doing last minute....

Turning it around... the govt should compensate the people if they could not prepare the cards within the stipulated time :D

Kokomo No service charges for online bill payment meh?

Alexhay Ya I think to the bigger majority, RM10 is nothing since people nowadays are willing to splash money on expensive food and materials. Eh I wonder the datuks and ministers got their IC newed or not.

They should make those defaulters to buy my shirt lah. lol! same goes to other laws. break a law? community service!

RM10 is a reasonable amount. I read The Star today that the cost of making a card is RM26.80. The JPN is kind enough to subsidised more than half of the amount. Sometimes we cannot take the government for granted. The government most of the time is giving in to the people. Look, the JPN staff is working over time and even until midnight just to accomodate to the people. WE should have thank them instead of screaming and complaining.

If want to complain, why not renew it much earlier. 4 year grace period is more than enough already.

Why is it people still refer the RM10 to be a FINE?
It is not a penalty.
That is the price which a responsible citizen need to pay to defray the cost of making the card as mentioned by Alexhay above.
Before the deadline, the card was free of charge to encourage people to register early.

Thanks for the hint kokomo,
Yvonne just mentioned paying bills and you fellas go off-track with online bill payments. Do you want to start a new thread on that? Please do. In the meantime, do remember this thread is on MyKad.
