Well .. keep whatever copies you might have left as it might probably be closed down .. well .. the evening edition, at least.

This is a sad news indeed. China Press Evening edition is the best seller in the Klang Valley. Instead of actions against the police and the ministers, China Press becomes the black sheep. Such a disppointing news to start with the new year.

Err...this could be a side-show...n another part n parcel of the whole freaking political circus...

Ahem...the China Press took a plunge into the merde water...n it would swim out of it...without much problems...

The irony is that the reason for it's shutting down, at least according to the NST, isn't even valid. They supposedly were the first to speculate that the victim was a Chinese national and are therefore paying the price for the mistake. As I have mentioned in a later blog entry which highlighted the headlines from the various newspapers in the fateful day of Nov 25, almost every paper speculated about the Chinese origins of the victim EXCEPT The Sun, Malaysiakini and China Press!

Ok .. with all said and done, the 2 senior editors of China Press resigned and took full responsibility for publishing "false news" regarding the police abuse aka Squatgate scandal.

The Centre for Independent Journalism is organising a candlelight vigil tomorrow at 6.00 pm in front of China Press' office to protest the prevalence of political influence in the newsroom. More details on this event can be read here (http://www.cijmalaysia.org/display_story.asp?ID=301).

Actually, it's very hard to fight for a person who fights with all their will to be seen accepting their fate. Bob Kee probably knows what I am talking about.
