Seems the authorities are making sure that Malaysia is NOT the place to party.... Star Link (http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2005/12/30/nation/12988833&sec=nation)

“We welcome people who come here to celebrate the New Year. But if they have plans to join such parties, they will end up spending their New Year in the lock-up,” he warned.

The police have identified Pulau Tepur, an islet about 2km from Pantai Cenang, as the most likely venue for the party.

So it seems one is suppose to sit quietly on the beach and count the freaking falling stars till midnight, then "wimper" a happy new year to the rest of the world!

How the **** does one celebrate an occasion without a party... I guess they oso gonna haul everyone else from Mutiara Damansara because there oso gonna have a big New Year eve bash too

What next.... is the authorities gonna tell me that I cannot celebrate my lil' girl's birthday party....

Just too bad!..Here is not partying like at Cannes, Monte Carlo, Monaco or California beaches..No comparison!
Malaysian and religious moral values take priorty to curb any indecent behavior, but leaving to whoever the authorities monitoring any situation deemed indecent, what's there to argue with them..this is bolehland!, they want to lock you up, you get locked up. Freedom to do as and how one likes doesn't exactly hold truth. Sux huh?.

Don't lah so nicky-picky, bro. Don't lah comment on one para of the report. Read lah the whole report and understand why the police issued the warning. Just in case you missed, it was also reported in today's Malay Mail.

Go on and enjoy your party. Happy New Year.

I still don't get it. Why is a beach party suddenly synonymous with indecent behaviour? Is there 'naturalism' involved?

ohh .. coz last year ther was a similar beach party in port dickson if i;m not wrong ... and that party was actually a sex orgy or something and attended and organized by ppl who worship satanism n stuff .... they used the new year countdown as an excuse 2 have a beach party ... some local gossip magazine claimed they interviewed one guy who claimed he attended the party last year and had intercourse with 10 different partners that nite

so.. i guess they are suspecting this coming party to be of the same sort ..same organizers and members ...

Hey USJ27Resident, where is the party venue again? :D

Beats me man... wife locks the main door @ 10 to midnight... after that, it'll be like walking into the sights of a loaded .357 Magnum... :p

Come to think of it... sometimes she sure sounds like Charles Bronson... then again, come to think of it - all crossed & angry (chinese!) women* do sound like him.... :p

*I'm gonna get trashed for saying this in public.... :D

And by the way, my wines are "on invitation only"... PCYeoh got one A'O'C' oredi.. so please keep it down wee bit... :p

Thank God I stay in this part of the world.... under MPSJ.... At this rate Shah Alam will be the most boring place in Malaysia...

At this rate,... with all the rules and regulations in Shah Alam, MPSA will go to the dogs  :p

I wonder, since when have people gone to Shah Alam for anything big besides Macro and Giant? This is not even a Forum for that municipality.

I go there for church every Sunday, and that's big LOL! Yah, you're right. There's nothing much for me to do there besides shopping in Macro, which isn't really neccessary since we have carrefour and giant here too. Shah Alam sports complex? But they hardly have anything there, except for the annual bon odori festival in the matsu****a stadium, or when we wanna deak with the JPN, or whatnot. hmmm...

While they decide to cancel celebrations in Shah Alam, downtown KL is massively jammed up. I am at a friend's place in the city, trying to get myself recharged for the party tonight but it took me 2 hours of road diversions to get here...:(

There's a few public celebrations going on in the city in very near proximity....
