It's called hop-scotch.

I remember the name 'teng-teng" but just cannot remember what it is exactly although I know I used to play it all the time as a toddler.

Not only using Japanese slipper to throw at but also hitting the card using "high five" method. If the card open (with picture) you win, if close (back portion) you loose. Probably, we could be the earlier generation which started "high five" :D

Yup...I do really miss this one though...its the harder, bigger and white in color, compared to the normal marbles which nowadays used in aquarium as a decor :(

Top was another favorite, still have mine, but the string is missing?!
Alex, I used to have whole lot of collection of my younger days in a box case, that was the case I used during primary school...since I was out of the country for a long tim, my mom decided to throw most of the stuff, but manage to salvage some thru the phone with her....I still do have my very first puppet that I made myself during year 3... :) :)

I always thought that paper football game was rather lame and those cards arghh....cars, war planes...so typical boys.

Oh Veejay, mother hen is for the very young kids, you know how the hen protect her chicks from the big bad wolf. The country game is knowledge base game where you have several categories and each player take turns to pick an alphabet and you score a point for every answer starting with that alphabet. Heart attack is played with cards, each players will pass one card to the player on the right, when you have collected 4 of the same cards i.e. 4 kings, you yell heart attack, everyone will then rush to put their palms in the center of the table, winner gets to whack everyone really hard.

anyone had collected spider for a fight ....yeah i did collect those spider and fight with other spiders..Err...a little over 40 years ago...Orchi recalls now having caught the first 'trophy'...n at the time Orchi thought...it was BIG...n by far the meanest of all spiders...so happily Orchi had kept it in a match box...n brought it to school on the next day...

Ahem...only to find out at school that...during the 'first bout' with another spider caught then by a childhood friend...it had submitted to its opponent without even putting up any fight at all...

Err...it was then Orchi realised...that 'trophy' which Orchi had caught for the first time...was a she-spider...:o

WOW!! so many good old day games... can't even remember how many of those I had palyed with...

But I believed many of us (malaysian kids) had seldom or even never play with before. I only know of this game in the school in Brunei (when my family went to Brunei).

Rubber tree seed... many of us will go into the forest to look for these rubbertree seed and we will use them to smack each other seed and see whose is the hardest... Some will use some dirty trick which they will remove the "fruit" inside the seed and put candle wax in them so they are unbreakable..but it is quite a dangerous game which sometime will cut the hand to bleed when the seed break and cut through the finger or palm..

oh!!! good old dayssss...

I remember this game can't recall the name. Played in a badminton court between 2 teams. One team has to send someone out to run for her life across the line and the other team would try to touch her to win, something like the chicken and hen game. Very heart-thumping!

And samson says..stop! sit! squat! etc..

Musical chairs? Another fav still widely played until this day. It was all fun, to bully the skinnier and weaker ones. Those of us with bigger..just need to push hard using our.. and the best part was making some fall off the chairs :D

And ar.. :D remember how some of us liked to bend someone's knees from behind?? and pull someone's chair from behind? Haha, I kena umpteen times liao, meaning kena punished by teachers to stand at the corner or on a chair during class.. :D

hahahahah, YES! I was in standard 3 and i bought 3 seeds from the std 6 boys for 10sen. I sold to the std 1 boys for 5sen 1 :D Of course, my sample seed was 'loaded' and polished to a real red shine :p

Nobody play hanging a bunch of rubber bands on the wall and then use another rubber band to shoot them down. Sharp shooter collects the fallen bands. Hmmmm...no wonder i am into shooting these days. :p

We used to sing this...very politically incorrect....I know!!
*Lat tali lat tang plong
Mak Minah balik kampong
Beranak dalam tong
Namanya Sotong!

I remember lots of girlie games Iused to play in early primary school.

A hand/fingers game we used to play/sing was....
*My mother went to the market to buy me some ribbons,
What colour do you want?
Each finger is counted as we sing, and if we answer blue for example, we spell out each alphabet on each finger. The finger where the 'e' lands will be folded in. The persons with all fingers folded in wins!

I remember lots of skipping rope songs. (using rubber bands of course!)
*Mother, mother ... I am sick
Take me to the doctor quick, quick, quick!

What about hand clapping games/songs? Girls, I'm sure you remember these!
(I can't quite remember the full song...but it's something like this)
*Under the rainbow, under the sea
bom, bom, bom, bom,
To see my sweetheart, under the tree
bom, bom, bom, bom.
Till we get married, we'll start a family
Under the rainbow, under the sea
bom, bom, bom, bom.

Here's another one....
*The sailor went to sea, sea, sea
To see what he could see, see, see
And all that he could see, see, see
Was the bottom of the ocean, sea, sea, sea.

Another all time favourite.
*Set set set, bom, bom, bom
Yes Sir, No Sir
One Two Jus!
(Then you play bird stone water - also known as paper scissors stone. The winner will then touch the other persons back of neck with a finger. The other guy will then have to guess which finger was used.

I also remember paper dolls (not the cross-dressing sort...) were really popular! I'd buy loads from the hawker in front of our school. Its a paper cut out of a girl, with lots of paper cut out clothes and outfits for various occassions.

Like how the video killed the radio, same here. Barbie came and made this obsolete. Not to mention Barbie has a dotting bf and a cool convertible, now why didn't they make any trophy bf/ boy toy paper dolls to complement the girls, that might prolong their popularity a bit more. You can only do so much in a girl - girl relationship.

We used to catch fighting fishes in the padi fields those days and keep them in the used jam bottles, separated by cigarette cardboards, to keep them acting up against each other. This was really fun until some rich kid got a "siamese fighting fish" from a aquarium shop in a big town..... we stopped fighting fishes and switched to "shotgun"...

"Shotguns" are those bamboo guns using wild cherries and a handle to 'pop' the cherries out with a bang! The stains from these wild cherries can stain your clothings and more often than not, if you get hit, your Mum will twist your ears for playing "shotguns"....

We also go hunting for "Y-shaped" sticks to make out own LASTIK or catapults...... the bands are either rubber bands and the 'bullet-holder' is cut from bicycle tyres.....

We played "Police and Thieves"....

But one of the wildest things my friends I did was to wait till the monsoon rain. The river would swell and we would go to the kampong dam and climb up to the highest point and dive in and swim underwater.... The dam was our own swimming pool and really deep. Nowadays, when I pass the same dam, I wonder why none of us were ever drowned or gone missing because the water was really fast-flowing and deep too.... phew! But it was really carefree and fun lah.... :D

orchi, in the spider world, she spider is meaner than he spider, usually she spider is twice the size of he spider and she spider will makan the he spider after copulation.Err...so then GTL:)...what could be wrong with Orchi's bigger spider?...if it is NOT as aggressive as the other opponent...n it didn't eat Orchi's bigger spider...then it would NOT be a she-spider afterall...

Ahem...perhaps there could be another explanation of somekinds...err...would you know...in the spider world...whether or not...there is such a thing as a half n half spiders?...
