Err...anyone who is over 21 years old...n having the proof of employment n an income from 18k per month or so...should be eligible to apply for a credit card from any of those finance institutions that offers them...n please read the terms of use carefully...

But when you get your card...use it wisely... :)

let say this month i spend rm1000, the minimum amount i had to pay nex month will be rm50/5% of actual spending amount. this i understand.

but what they mean by 18% per year interest. is the total amount of due x 118% or the first month due x118% + second month due x 118%? i am flummoxed. somebody helo me!

Nowaday it is so easy to get a card. as long as you have got a good paying job like 18k per year will do. That in itself is the biggest problem facing youngsters nowaday. They are spoiled for choice. I have got no less than half a dozen of cards offered to me this year. So rabbiteeth84 you see it is not a very hard thing to own a card but the hard thing is being self discipline in using and paying for it. Otherwise it is a breeze.

Hungry, waiting to go lunch, will attempt to answer this.
Say you pay RM50, amount outstanding owed is RM950
Take 18% per annum interest, RM950 x 0.18 = RM171, per month = RM14.25
Interest charges for current month is RM14.25

Next bill would be RM950+RM14.25+whatever you spend after your last statement.

Sifus, is this correct?

Pets=Friends formula is right. But some bank seems to charge less than that. RHB is one bank which charge less than 18% even though they do not announced it officially. Southern Bank Direct Access is one credit card really free for Life - no condition. Most other banks like joker2107 said, has condition that you must spend certain amount of purchases. But beware of usage, in Taiwan (yesterday's Star), one woman runs up a few millions (400 times her monthly salary) in credit card debt. And guessed what is her excuse. "I don't know the interest rate is that high". Hope, her excuse can shed some tears from the judges.

Rabbiteeth, as you're a student intending to go overseas for your studies, you need a steady income of at least RM1,500 to qualify for a card. Otherwise, if you have a tidy sum sitting in your FD, you may ask the bank to issue you a card subject to their conditions e.g. maintain a minimum RMxxxxx for X months. Otherwise, your info gathered on credit cards is purely academic la.... :D

Hehe.....just a piece of plastic only......nothing big deal......whatever card u apply also have to pay back the amount u spend....... :D
access fee ar??.......use the points to get annual fee waiver lar...... :p

Did anyone try applying for the Aeon credit card under Jusco......1.4% per month lower than most bank which charge 1.5% per month or 18% per annum......

But recently......my colleague who got Citibank cc....they told him 3 yrs back that he no need pay annual fees for 5 yrs.......then suddenly they charged him Rm159 recently.....he tot of cancelling the subscription but unable to get the bloody customer service.......keep on auto-telephonist.....and nothing of service for cancellation of card usage.......he asked me to help and I taruh the citibank customer service kaw-kaw.......now waiting for the letter of cancellation...... :D

HSBC ar.....still using it for 2nd yr......and got another free for life Affin Bank cc given by my company......so if i tot of cancelling my HSBC.....i alwiz got a spare one free for life......

And I think my machai in Johor more powderful......he got 16 credit cards........from all financial institution......when he take out his credit cards.......he flip a booklet full of cards out......wahhhh  .....fantastic lor :D

got my platinum card offered by citibank even though the annual is <60k.
I think it is a matter of discretion from bank ..... my brother got his gold card from citibank and ambank even though the annual is < 20k !!!!
apparently if you stuck with one bank for long enough, it will automatically upgrade your card :-)

Actually, i won't really look into free for life sort of cc cos at the end of the day, i'll still c how good a bank can provide me wif their services ..

if hv to pay access fee yet i'm gettin' a bad service of cos i'll cancel la .. like citibank , services is not only bad but then make payment also all the way to kl it's kaw kaw far man .. even if i can make payment thru other banks also .. there are service charge there ...

anyway, HSCB is so near my hse , i can make payment anytime, no charge of service summore .. ok wat ..

what u said is true , if we stick to 1 bank long enuff , they'll actually upgrade our card .. be it by status gold / platinum ..

wif HSBC recently they only upgrade my credit limit .. still maintain classic .. hehe .. dun hv to pay so much on access fee i think that's fine wif me ..

No need to apply, just walk into any hypermarket/shopping centre and you will have a few forms shoved into your face. I think the banks are giving out cards too freely and could end up like South Korea. :(

is it okay that i ask my dad to give me a salary slip so that i can apply for my own card. i could hav a sub card eddy but i dun wan my dad to know wat i am spending in lah. anybody any opinion?

kokomo
03-01-2006, 09:25 AM
Rabbit , u mean asking for your dad's salary slip or making another 1 under your own? If using your dad's salary slip then it's not right .. but if you ask your dad to forge another salary slip under your name then it's still not right but u hv a chance of gettin' a card of your own ... :D

If can't get a CC approve then jz use your sub-card when it's necessary n wat u dowan ur dad to know u're spending on .. use cash lor ... :p

i think it depends on your spending pattern too...
