Whats happening to our country, almost every news of robbery n murder case, there is gun involve. 20 years back, the situation is so rare, nowadays its so common to see robbers holding gun and shot down anyone that retaliate. My wife don't feel safe anymore to walk alone, she scare someone will rob her while she is trying to have her decent bakuteh dinner. Is our police is getting useless or they are too busy "minum kopi", feel free to comment. :)

It may not be because gun is so easily available nowadays but rather life has become cheaper and humanity has become more beast-like.

This is outrageous. We could be gunned down having Bakuteh. Those criminals had to use guns to rob a bakuteh stall?? This is so sad. :(

We just pray our country do not end up like families in the US etc.., it is shocking to learn that many children live in homes where guns are easily available. Even if they don't own a gun, those children might have friends who own guns. Monkey see monkey do.

The robbers could be our own people from the army. They have guns. Not necessary foreigners.

Remember the theft from the police armoury? Guns for hire by our boys in blue.

I'm from Canada, and the city of Toronto has been seeing some major gun violence in the past 5 years.

Last year there were over 75 homicides in Toronto...a sharp increase because the rate is usually closer to 62 (on average per year).

Most of the homicides are gang related.

Two things scare me the most about the homicide rate:

First, most of the homicides in Toronto now are through gun violence. Second, innocent people are being shot, since the people with the guns are becoming bolder, and attacking their targets in public places. There have been murders and retaliation attacks in shopping malls, on local streets, in school grounds, etc.

for examples, visit the Toronto Star newspaper website, www.thestar.com

There is a strict gun control system in Canada, which probably explains the low homicide rate. Right now the government wants to ban handguns altogether. Unfortunately, that alone wont work. Britain banned handguns altogether, after someone went and shot up a children's kindergarten...guess what, gun crimes have increased.

If this is becoming a serious issue in Malaysia, there has to be a multiple-target approach. A stronger Customs Agency, better law enforcement, and better parenting, will all help to reduce gun crimes.
