Aiyah, if cannot flush, just open the top of your cistern and look for the connection between the flush handle and the outlet plunger within the cistern. Some connection is probably broken or loose. If connection is loose, just make the necessary correction. You can also flush by pulling on the plunger. Try it.

All the above will be simple to rectify if your flush system is of the ordinary type not not an expensive setup like the ones with swirl or suction flush. Some branded toilets (like Johnson Suisse) where the cistern sits at one end of the toilet bowl will have a more complicated flush system and you may need a plumber to repair it.

I agree with Alex and Chang that the problem you are facing is very simple to resolve by yourself. Take a trip to a DIY shop and ask the guy there for advice and he would be glad even to demo how you could do it yourself. I am only afraid that you may not have the proper tools. People like Alexius Lim and Patrick Tan and including myself are DIY enthusiasts and people like Alan Cheng is the professional. Maybe it is about time you equip yourself with a wrench as other common problem is the worn our washer that makes your tap drip. Any water cistern problem like yours cost less than RM 30 to rectify and the common dripping tap problem will only cost you 50 sen. But should you call the plumber, be prepared to pay about RM 100 - RM 150 and it is no fun watching him do that.
